John Vonk, a Boise State University student attending the vigil, acknowledged that being a pacifist was not exactly popular right now. But he and others at the coalition felt they needed to be heard. ... "Some people will call us pacifists," Furqan M. Mehmood, a Muslim living in Boise, told the crowd. "You are the bravest of the brave. It takes a brave person to stand up for their beliefs." No, the bravest of the brave are the men and women who are facing Evil and fighting it. It actually takes courage to point at Evil and call it by name. To travel with Evil, to apologize for it, to be its friend, is to become one with Evil. |
