on Saturday.

Upon arrival, the UN envoy received a warm welcomed from state officials an cheering crowd before being escorted to the presidential palace, where he held talks with president Abdiweli Mohammed Ali Gaas.

The UN envoy and Puntland leader have discussed on two key issues, need for peace around the contested area of Tukaraq, and improving relations between Federal Government of Somalia and the Federal Member States.

The visit is the latest in a string of trips the UN envoy is paying to the administrative capitals of the country’s regional states on a mission to defuse the current political crisis.
