-Short Attention Span Theater-
What's really behind American Airlines' cancellation of the Tel Aviv-Philadelphia route?
[Jerusalem Post] The airline says the decision is financial, but 'TheMarker,' claimed the decision was political.

Last week, would-be passengers were saddened to learn that American Airlines would be canceling its Tel Aviv-Philadelphia route, the airline's only direct flight to the US.

The airline said the decision to stop the flights effective January 4 was financial, but an article in The Marker citing unnamed "sources in the aviation industry" claimed the decision was political.

American's ties with Arab airlines through the OneWorld alliance, the article claimed, "due to the OneWorld global alliance, whose members include Arab carriers like Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian," were at the heart of the decision.

Others speculated that, following the nuclear deal with Iran, American was trying to pave the way for a Havana Tehran route, and that continuing flights to Israel would be a problem.

#1  They also don't want to have a plane in Tel Aviv when Iran nukes the city.

#2  Apparently they were making pots of money on full planes earlier this year. I vote political. However, this means more money for El Al.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
WAPO logic: The Iran nuclear deal is Champ's Iraq troop surge
[WAPO] The drama is breathtaking. A decisive president makes a crucial decision on the Middle East issue that defines his tenure, a decision that could transform not just the specific situation but regional security. Yet he has just lost both houses of Congress, opinion polls on the decision are heading south, lawmakers are up in arms, and even some in his administration have doubts. But rather than hesitate, he drives ahead.

Barack Obama, 2015, with Iran? No, George W. Bush, 2006-07, with the Iraq troop surge to save his effort in the country he ordered the U.S. military to invade. Both presidents, at the same point in their tenures, pushed major initiatives against very strong domestic opposition. Given the similarities, the fate of Bush's surge could provide insight into the fate of the Joint Comprehensive Program of Action with Iran.

Author: James F. Jeffrey is the Philip Solondz distinguished fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He served as U.S. ambassador to Turkey from 2008 to 2010 and Iraq from 2010 to 2012.

#1  A surge for whom?
Posted by: JohnQC || 08/28/2015 11:03 Comments || Top||

#2  Talk about a false symmetry.

How about we talk about the intended goals?

Bush was trying to complete the conquest and pacification of an old enemy; Zero is trying to complete the nuclearization and armement of an current enemy.

Post-modernism at its finest.

#3  Its been said before here in the "Burg + Net - in lieu of sending US Milfors back into Iraq, the Bammer = USA intends to use new BFF + Co-Superpower sibling Iran aka Rising Iran to fight the ISIS/ISIL + Al-Qaeda Boyz, etal.

THE PROB/FUBAR IS IFF THE OWG GLOBIES MISCALCULATE
- THEY HAVEN'T ANSWERED JUST HOW MANY "US-STYLE/PAR" CO-SUPERPOWERS DO THEY INTEND TO BE ON EACH CONTINENT + IN THE WORLD, + HOW WILL US INTERESTS BE DIRECTLY ANDOR INDIRECTLY AFFECTED OR IMPACTED.

The Scenario is there in that instead of imposing Western-style Secular Socialism on the US-Worldm ALL THEY ACCOMPLISHED WAS HELPING THE HARD BOYZ + GLOBAL JIHAD TAKEOVER THE ENTIRE WORLD.

They imposed OWG + Socialism all right, just NOT the one or kind they'd planned for.

OOOOOOOOOOPPPPPSSSSIES.

A little nuclear help from its friends
By Paul Vallely and Denny Haney

[WashingtonTimes] Since 1979, a cabal of nations has aided and abetted Iran in its efforts to develop a robust nuclear program under the guise of generating a nuclear energy system. This cabal is mainly comprised of Russia, China and North Korea. Since sanctions began being placed on Iran in 1979, with more added since, Iran still had enough free reign to develop its capabilities despite the sanctions regime because of this cabal. All the moving parts are in place, the material is there, and this means they are already nuclear -- "breakout" is imminent now.

During this period, North Korea had evaded sanctions, and like Iran, lied, cheated and broke virtually every agreement it ever signed with the United Nations. Now North Korea is a nuclear weapons power, and we believe Iran has already achieved the same end. Each had created hidden facilities, but only North Korea has actually tested weapons fully. Because Iran has to date only detonated trigger devices that does not mean the mullahs do not have weapons capability now -- they certainly have enough material.

#1  Lest we fergit, both Iran + Radical Islam e.g. Osama Bin Laden's AL-Qaeda were claimed andor suspected of rushing to procure ex-Soviet Nukes-WMDS - Warheads, Technology, + Nuke Scientists-Technicians, etc. - after the fall of the Berlin Wall [1989], + USSR [1991].

Ditto as per SADDAM HUSSEIN'S IRAQ + OTHER.

#2  If a Biden run is not representative of a circus, then Juvenal's metaphor is a lie.

Distractions - Bread and circus

Since the times of the Romans, dictators have used this technique. Panem et Circenses comes from Roman poet Juvenal's metaphor for people voluntarily (or democratically) giving up civic responsibility for a reasonably stable status quo.

When the people are well-fed and having fun, they will be too contented or lazy to protest against those in charge (they may even start to thank, adore, and praise those in charge), turning them into gullible lemmings and apathetic citizens who will leave the “Powers That Be” free to do as they please.

Sports such as football, Rugby, Olympic Games, etc serve as distractions to lead people away from political realities, misrule and corruption.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Dear Corporate America
Dear Corporate America,
I haven't written to you in a while. At least not since my television broke down, my toaster developed a taste for human flesh and my phone company ran away with my phone number to Mexico.

Rachel Maddow says we're both on the right and are really close together. But then again Rachel Maddow also says the Republican Party drinks the blood of small children. So she can be a little factually challenged on occasion.

Still I'm on the right and you're occasionally sort of, but not really, on the right. I support lower taxes. So do you. At least for yourself. I support deregulation. You only support deregulation when it suits your narrow interests, but not when it lets smaller businesses and freelancers compete against you.

What you seem to want is a country with low taxes, your preferred forms of deregulation and the population of Mexico.

These things are not compatible. Mexico is currently governed by the Institutional Revolutionary Party; a member of the Socialist International. It has a multi-generational teachers' union whose members pass on their jobs to their children and whose riots have to be put down by armed force.

When it comes to ease of doing business, the United States is ranked 4th, Mexico is ranked 48th, coming in ahead of Kazakhstan. A Comparmex report showed that companies spend 10% of their revenue on bribes.

Is this what you really want for America?

Moynihan's scissors today
We are celebrating this year, if that is the word, the fiftieth anniversary of perhaps the most inconsequential sociological study ever published. That was, The Negro Family: The Case For National Action, by the brilliant American politician and thinker, Daniel Patrick Moynihan (1927--2003).

Working then in the U.S. Department of Labour, Moynihan focused his attention on a counter-intuitive statistical fact. Unemployment among black males was falling, in 1965. But rates of welfare enrolment for black families was rising. This did not make sense. The two lines on this chart had always fallen or risen together. But they had crossed over in 1962. He had put his finger in what came to be called, "Moynihan's scissors."

#2  DPM is one of the very few Demos for whom I've ever had any respect, not that I'd vote for him or agree with too much of what he said; but this was a high point along with "defining deviancy down".
