Walmart apologizes for refusing to make police officer’s cake
An apology is nice. How were the miscreants punished?
Tut tut, my periwinkle mod, it wasn't as if it was a gay wedding cake...
[MACON] Walmart is apologizing for refusing to make a police officer’s retirement cake last week after an employee told the cop’s daughter that her "thin blue line" cake design might be considered racist.

The police officer’s daughter, who has remained anonymous, told radio host Todd Starnes that she went to a Walmart in McDonough, Georgia on Thursday to ask for a cake with the American flag in black and white with a blue stripe added in.

But one of the employees at the bakery balked at the common police officer emblem, telling the woman "the design could be perceived as racist and nobody feels comfortable decorating the cake," she recounted to Starnes. When she asked for a simpler cake, with just one blue line on a chocolate background, the employee said she didn’t "feel comfortable" with that design either.

"I asked her, ’Is there something wrong with cops?’" the woman recalled, according to Starnes.

The employee again refused to make the cake.

Taylor Wilkes, a Georgia police officer and family friend, originally posted about the cake incident on Facebook early Friday morning, criticizing the store for their "appalling" behavior.

"There is nothing racist about the symbolism behind the "thin blue line," yet people CHOOSE to make EVERYTHING about race," Wilkes wrote. "I'm so tired of it."
I condemn looting, I really do, but don't ask me to work up much sympathy the next time a Walmart gets trashed by the BLM thugs.

Seems like PC has replaced common sense for liberals. It certainly keeps them from having to think, and it sure makes them feel good when they get to single-handedly save the planet from whatever imagined threat they perceive.

"Oopsies, sorry about ruining your retirement party. Maybe next time."

At that point she should have just stopped, asked for the server's name, and left. Complaining to the Store Manager, and asking for a complaint form for Corporate, on the way out of the store is optional.

Would you trust them not to spit on any cake they made?

Tell the fascist commies you will file suit because your desserts are not public unless you make it so. And who the F cares?
You hate cops? GOD knows you need them , wallmart. You had do better than this.

For your stores are where many Police Officers spend most of their day hauling people out of that place with their paws flying.

You had better straighten up, people.

But for the LEO, May I suggest Golden Corral a better place to protect? Or better food maybe?

Afghanistan
Killing of Pakistani Taliban leader proof Afghanistan not harboring terrorists
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The killing of one of the most big shots of the Pak Taliban, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), is a proof Afghanistan is not harboring terrorists, the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistain Dr. Omar Zakhilwal said.

"Killing of top TTP commander, Azam Tariq, in an operation by Afg security forces in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
is yet another proof that Afg is not in business of harboring holy warriors as ’assets’, regardless of who they intend to target; and does not distinguish between ’good’ and ’bad’ of them," Zakhilwal said in a statement posted online.

The Afghan Ambassador further added "In fact, to date every TTP leader of any importance has been killed by our security or/and coalition forces from Afghanistan. Azam Tariq was currently ranked as the 4th most important TTP leader and Pakistain had put about $200 thousand US dollars on his head."

Tariq was the former front man of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain and his death is considered as a big loss for the group.

Senior TTP members have confirmed Tariq’s death terming it a big loss for the splinter Mahsud myrmidon group, headed by Commander Khan Said alias Sajna.

Azam Tariq’s real name was Raees Khan. He belonged to the Mahsud tribe inhabiting South Wazoo where the security forces have been engaged in operations against the bully boyz since 2009.

Khalifa Haftar is preparing murder list, UAE website claims
[Libya Observer] Renegade General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
is preparing an liquidation list of military officers and political figures in east and west Libya who could pose a threat to him, Emirati Affairs news website reported on Sunday.

The UAE's well-known opposition news website cited sources as saying that instructions were given to Khalifa Haftar from the Egyptian Intelligence Agency and Mohammed Dahlan, an exiled Paleostinian politician and top advisor to the UAE rulers, to assassinate senior Dignity Operation military officers and federalists to pave the way for his absolute rule and ensure that no one competes with him.

The website said preparations for the list started in April 2016 in coordination between Egyptian Intelligence, Mohammed Dahlan and Khalifa Haftar's adviser Noman Ben Ottoman, a former Qadaffy intelligence agent.

"If the liquidation plot was failed, the targets would be defamed in the media," the website claimed.

The list included defense minister-designate Mihdi Baraghati, Ibrahim Jodran, federalist HoR member Abu Baker Baira, federalist HoR member Esam Jahani, federalist HoR member Ziyad Daghaim, and senior Dignity Operation officer Wanis Bu Khamadah, in addition to 23 others.

Saudi cuts public sector bonuses, ministers’ salaries
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s government has decided to curb to some financial perks for public sector employees, according to a live broadcast of the cabinet’s weekly meeting.

, a list of cuts to be made in various grades in the civil service.

A royal decree read on the channel following the broadcast announced a cut to ministers’ salaries Saudi cuts public sector bonuses, ministers’ salaries by 20 percent and to members of the appointed Shoura Council by 15 percent.
At this rate stay-cations and elaborate tiny houses will soon be all the rage.
The decision comes as low oil prices have pushed energy-rich Gulf Arab states to rein in lavish public spending.

Soddys sez it's not the time for a truce
"We still have plenty of ammo to burn through yet"
The Saudi-led coalition waging a war on Yemen said on Monday it would prefer a broad political settlement to a ceasefire.
Hudnas are only good for a maximum of one day less than ten years, but must be broken as soon as Allah's favourites are ready to return to the battlefield. Can't blame the Saudis for preferring the other side didn't realize that's what is really going on.
“I think now it’s not a question of talking about a ceasefire,” coalition spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed Assiri told AFP.

Late on Sunday, the head of the new Yemeni council, Saleh al-Sammad, proposed on Sunday a truce on the country’s border with Saudi Arabia.

Assiri said the coalition welcomes “any effort to have a genuine political settlement” under a peace initiative proposed last month by US Secretary of State John Kerry. This is preferable to a “short ceasefire without any control, without any observation”, he said.

Previous truces in the 18-month war collapsed after continuous and deadly strikes by the Saudi-led coalition, which prompted the Yemeni army and the popular committees of Ansarullah revolutionaries to respond by firing rockets on Saudi border areas.

“If they want to have a ceasefire they know what they have to do,” Assiri said, referring to terms of the Kerry plan which were to be refined under United Nations mediation among the parties.

Final Yemen solution preferred over ‘short truce’
Arabs always want a "Final Solution"
[Al Arabiya] The Saudi-led coalition fighting in support of Yemen’s government would prefer a broad political settlement to a ceasefire, its spokesman said on Monday.

“I think now it’s not a question of talking about a ceasefire,” Brigadier General Ahmed Assiri told AFP.

Late on Sunday a Houthi militia leader, Saleh al-Sammad, proposed a truce on the country’s border with Saudi Arabia in exchange for a halt in Saudi-led air strikes on his forces.

Assiri said the coalition welcomes “any effort to have a genuine political settlement” under a peace initiative proposed last month by US Secretary of State John Kerry.

This is preferable to a “short ceasefire without any control, without any observation”, he said.

Previous truces in the 18-month war collapsed.

Saleh turnaround
In a turn of events, Saleh also urged for direct talks with Saudi Arabia, denying in the process that his forces, along with Houthi militias, have “any coalition or connections with Iran.”

Saleh also invited Yemeni President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi to enter the capital Sanaa and that he will receive himself.

In late 2014 they seized Yemen’s capital Sanaa before moving into other parts of the country.

Saudi Arabia in March 2015 formed an Arab coalition to begin air strikes and ground support for forces loyal to Hadi, who fled to Riyadh.

The latest round of UN-led talks between the government and the Huthis ended acrimoniously on August 6 without a breakthrough and a ceasefire that had been in place since April collapsed.

Hadi, in a fierce address to the UN in New York on Friday, accused of Iran of blocking peace moves through its support for the rebels.

“We shall extract Yemen from the claws of Iran. We shall raise the Yemeni flag over every foot of our precious soil,” Hadi told the General Assembly.

video that features the Gulshan cafe attackers as heroes and calls on supporters for more barbarities has been identified.

He is none other than Tahmid Rahman Shafi or Abu Isha al-Bangali, confirms Tasneem Khalil, a Sweden-based journalist who monitors online activities of jihadists, using some software tools. Once a popular Close-Up star, Shafi also sang a motivational song in the video.

Shafi, who worked as a teacher at an English medium school before going missing in mid-2015, and two of his Bangladeshi associates spoke on camera in the first IS video released from Raqqa, Syria on July 6 hailing the Holey Artisan Bakery attack that killed 23 people including 17 foreigners on July 1.

While the video created much hype in social media, the trio were identified by their friends and family members, as well as the law enforcers.

The new video was first released on Android app Telegram by Arabic Nashir, the official IS media channel, on Friday and later posted by IS’ Bangla media At-Tamkin. The 15-minute video was produced by "Bilad al-Bengal media office." Bilad, in this context, means province or region.

On Sunday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal reiterated the government’s firm stance against militancy and said that there was no leader of the IS group in Bangladesh. "The video footage has been released as part of a conspiracy against Bangladesh," he added.

Bulgaria court error delays trial Hezbollah-linked bus bombing
[Beirut Daily Star] The trial over a deadly 2012 bombing of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria, due to start on Monday, has been pushed back to November because of a procedural error, prosecutors said.

The opening was delayed because the Sofia court had failed to inform the victims' families of the start date, prosecutors told AFP.

The proceedings against two alleged suspects in the attack, who are on the run and being tried in absentia, will now start on Nov. 10.

A Franco-Lebanese national, identified as Mohamad Hassan El-Husseini, blew up a bus carrying Israeli tourists at the airport of the Black Sea coast resort of Burgas on July 18, 2012, prosecutors allege.

Five Israelis, their Bulgarian driver and the bomber himself died in the attack, which left 35 other Israelis hurt.

Bulgarian authorities identified the attacker's alleged accomplices as two Lebanese men with links to the Lebanese group Hezbollah, named as Australian passport holder Meliad Farah and Canadian citizen Hassan El Hajj Hassan.

The attack - which both Israel and Bulgaria blamed on Hezbollah - was the deadliest hit against Israelis abroad since 2004.

The Grand Turk
Turkish wimmin protest woman abused on bus for wearing shorts
Uh, fellas? No one cares about your hairy legs...
Enjoy it while you can, ladies. The iron curtain is falling -- forever if your neo-Ottoman sultan gets his way.
ISTANBUL: Turks donned shorts and gathered in central Istanbul on Sunday to condemn the assault of a young nurse who was attacked on a bus for wearing shorts.

With chants of “Don’t interfere with my shorts!” the protest aimed to show solidarity with Aysegul Terzi, who was kicked in the face by a man, Abdullah Cakiroglu, on Sept. 12.

Cakiroglu confessed to attacking Terzi for what he called her “inappropriate” clothing, yet was released from custody despite expressing no remorse, according to Turkish news reports. Following a public uproar over the attack, he was then re-arrested on charges of inciting hatred and interfering with the right to freedom.

On social media, critics accused the Turkish authorities of expressing tacit approval of Cakiroglu’s actions.

Accountant Saadet Yesil, 44, told The Associated Press at Sunday’s protest that everyone had a right to dress as they saw fit.

“Just as we don’t interfere with those in headscarves or gentlemen in turbans, we expect they extend us the same courtesy,” she said.
That's nice, dear.
She also accused Turkey’s prime minister of attempting to downplay the attack. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim spoke of the assault with the Turkish daily Hurriyet last week, saying “I don’t think he is a normal man because what he did isn’t something a normal person would do. You might not like (someone’s dress but) you just grumble about it.”

Akin Ozcan Aksoy, a 21-year-old student at Sunday’s protest, told the AP he hoped such attacks would not take place “but the direction our country is headed makes me think we will encounter more of these stories.”
We do, too. May we suggest you aim to misbehave.
Another shorts protest was scheduled to take place in Ankara, the capital.

Relations with EU, Operation Euphrates Shield in Syria, fight against FETÖ tops Cabinet meeting
[DAILYSABAH] e Turkish government's Cabinet convened on Monday at Cankaya Palace in Ankara under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim. Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus informed the media members present that Turkish ‐ European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) relations were discussed as he underlined that the relationship between the two goes far beyond the refugee deal. In addition Kurtulmus also spoke on the recent developments in Operation Euphrates Shield, underlining that the aim is to clear ISIS from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's borders.

Though Turkish ‐ EU relations were tense following the failed July 15 coup attempt due to the controversial stance of some EU officials, Deputy PM Kurtulmus stated that the EU had comprehended the rising democracy and spirit of unity and togetherness in Turkey. Speaking to media persons during the Cabinet meeting, Kurtulmus said, "Turkey ‐ EU relations is not a matter to be approached under the framework of the refugee crisis, as it would be faulty to degrade relations due to the refugee matter." As the Turkish deputy prime minister further addressed issues of ongoing investigations on the Gulenist Terror Group (FETÖ) and claims of the possibility of a new coup attempt, Kurtulmus also noted that Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag had done a presentation to the Cabinet's members where he had also suggested an amendment to the criminal procedures act.

Commenting on Turkey ‐ EU relations Kurtulmus further stressed that additional chapters must be opened by the EU in Turkey's membership process. "Turkey is in favor of opening new chapters with the EU as Turkey does not have any hesitations for these chapters to be opened, especially the chapters 23 and 24," he added. As Chapter 23 is on judicial and fundamental rights and Chapter 24 on justice, security and freedoms, Kurtulmus said Turkey has no hesitations regarding these matters and that there is no need to take a step back on these topics.

Continuing on by addressing the ongoing Euphrates Shield military operation, which is being conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) jointly with the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA), Kurtulmus reminded the media of the three red lines for Turkey in carrying out the operation. "The first is Turkey's necessity to protect its borders from terror organizations in Syria. The second is Turkey supporting the territorial integrity of Syria, thus willing to do all means of interfering to preserve it [the territorial integrity]," Kurtulmus added, and stated the third as preventing any PYD corridor in northern Syria, which would also affect the territorial integrity of Syria.

As the withdrawal of the terrorist PKK-affiliate, the PYD, to the West of the Euphrates River continues gradually, the Turkish deputy prime minister stressed that the matter has always been the withdrawal of the PYD's forces. "In this respect, Turkey has persistently reiterated for the withdrawal of PYD to the West of the Euphrates River. We will continue our determination in the region until all means of terror is eliminated completely," he added. In regards to the discussions on a possible operation in Raqqa and djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Kurtulmus reminded those gathered that Turkey is in favor of local forces conducting such an operation, as he further underlined that the operations must be conducted under the surveillance of the international coalition.

India-Pakistan
India says Pakistan believes terror will bring territory
[WASHINGTONPOST] Pakistain continues to believe terrorist attacks will allow it to obtain territory it covets in Jammu and Kashmire, India’s foreign minister said Monday.

In her speech before the U.N. General Assembly, Sushma Swaraj also rejected accusations made by Pakistain’s prime minister from the same podium last week that India violates human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
, calling them "baseless."

She said India has a man in jug "whose confession is a living proof of Pakistain’s complicity in cross-border terror. But when confronted with such evidence, Pakistain remains in denial."

"It persists in the belief that such attacks will enable it to obtain the territory it covets," Swaraj said. "My firm advice to Pakistain is: abandon this dream. Let me state unequivocally that Jammu and Kashmire is an integral part of India and will always remain so."

Exercising her right to reply, Pakistain’s U.N. Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi dismissed Swaraj’s speech as "a litany of falsehoods."

"These allegations are designed principally to deflect global attention from the brutalities being perpetrated by India’s over half a million occupation force against innocent and unarmed Kashmiri children, women and men in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmire," Lodhi said.

She called for a full and impartial investigation of Indian atrocities and human rights violations in Kashmire.

On Sept. 18, bully boyz slipped into an army base in Indian-controlled Kashmire, killing at least 18 soldiers. Four bully boyz were killed in the attack, which occurred near the highly militarized line that divides Kashmire between India and Pakistain.

Iraq
Islamic State preparing for long showdown over Mosul
[UPI] As the showdown approaches with the Iraqi Army, backed by the Shia-dominated militias and Kurdish Peshmerga with aerial support by the U.S.-led coalition forces, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslems are preparing for a protracted war over djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
Residents said trenches were dug around the city and neighborhoods on the corners were cleared of residents. All areas on the city border were said to have been booby-trapped.

The residents said those who were removed were taken to compounds inside Mosul run by IS and are likely to be used as human shields if the jihadists begin to lose the battle.

"The bottom line is that ISIS is extremely anxious of the coming confrontation, thus, has been making plans. We can see it digging the trenches," said Ahmed, a Mosul resident who declined to be identified for fear of reprisal.

He said IS is "clearly nervous, as we can see from its fighters in the streets. If you look at one of them, you're in trouble. He would walk up to you and start a fight, thinking that you reported him to Iraqi security or that you're pursuing him."

Another resident, also speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the number of IS's foreign jihadists in Mosul has diminished over the past few weeks.

"The reason is one of two: Either because EU countries have forbidden their citizens from traveling to Iraq and Syria and are keeping a closer watch on people leaving," he said, "Or, it could be because some of the foreigners involved with ISIS, specifically Arabs, are actually drug pushers, who came to Mosul to make financial gains or convicted criminals who found a safe haven in the city."

As for non-Arab foreigners in Mosul, which IS captured in lightning attack in 2014: "We hear that many of them have already escaped to Raqqa in Syria with their families."

"We don't see any foreigners in Mosul anymore," said the resident, who explained that non-Arabs stood out in the crowd because many were blond, green-eyed with light-colored skin. "Their accent in Arabic was heavy and we were able to distinguish they weren't locals."

Another Mosul resident, who declined to be identified, said IS foreigners have "found a safe haven in Tal Afar and two other villages just outside Mosul." He said he overheard his cousin, an IS fighter, talking about the plans over the phone.

The Mosul residents spoke in separate interviews, some in text chats or brief calls on social media networks. They all reported a shortage of food, medicine and medical supplies but insisted that it was manageable and that no cases of famine have been reported.

Mohammed Shafiq, a journalist working for an Iraqi TV channel, said the Shia-dominated Popular Mobilisation Forces will be involved in Mosul's liberation.

He said his information came from top government officials, despite opposition by Mosul residents of a force accused of atrocities against Iraqi Sunnis in other areas seized back from IS.

The PMF "taking part in the battle over Mosul means that ISIS is assured of a significant loss because al-Hashed al-Shaabi [PMF] will help eliminate the number of myrmidon fighters very quickly as the army advances," he noted.

Political analyst Fayiz al-Kanaan said ISis part of Iraq's political mess, which saw successive Shia-dominated Cabinets shun the Sunnis, who were ostracized after the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime.

"The real battle against ISIS is the wider political battle in Iraq," he said, using an Arabic acronym for IS. "What helped ISIS win and stay in Mosul is a group within the community that allowed it to do that."

He said the support allowed IS to "build bases and tunnels underground, not to mention the gruesome operations that the group carried out, like the execution of prisoners of war, killing and instilling fear in the hearts of families as well as the destruction of Iraqi antiquities."

You would think some folks would simply use the name of someone they hate so that reprisal would take place. Am I a bad person for thinking along these lines?

Hezbollah condoles the death of Palestinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouna in Zionist jails
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Hezbollah condoled on Monday the death of 40-year-old Paleostinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouna in Zionist jails, holding the Zionist enemy fully responsible for his death out of medical negligence being practiced against all Paleostinian detainees.

"Israelis insistence on Hamdouna’s detention since 2003 and recklessness to provide him with medical care during his last days led to this tragic end. This confirms that Zionist authorities exercise a silent extermination policy against the prisoners, and draws many questions about the fate of prisoners and detainees under the unjust enemy authority," Hezbollah said in a statement.

The silence of international communities and Human Rights organizations is paving the way for more Israeli medical abuse against the Paleostinians, especially prisoners, not to forget the Zionist siege on Paleostinians in the West Bank, Gazoo and other areas, the statement read.

Hamdouna, a resident of the occupied northern West Bank city of Jenein, suffered a stroke on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a medical centre in the city of Beersheba. He had been suffering from recurrent shortness of breath, heart problems as well as agonizing pains in his left ear and his condition further deteriorated in the wake of Israeli prison authorities’ delay in providing treatment for him, Paleostinian sources confirmed.

Hezbollah ended its statement by offering heartfelt condolences to the martyr’s family and those who loved him, urging people to raise their voice in the face of the multi-faceted Zionist terrorism threatening humanity all over the world.

Duterte: No amnesty for Abu Sayyaf
[RAPPLER] Under his watch, members of the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
Group (ASG) will never be granted amnesty, said President Rodrigo Duterte.

"The Abu Sayyaf were decapitating people like they would just fowls and pigs and goats. And there will be no talks. The Armed Forces is right, rejecting amnesty for them. I will not, I will never. There will never be an amnesty for so much killing," said Duterte on Monday, September 26.

He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Malacañang Press Corps officers at the Palace.

Apparently, the suggestion to include the Abu Sayyaf in peace talks, with the possibility of the granting of amnesty, was suggested by Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) leader Nur Misuari.

Misuari had facilitated the release of Norwegian hostage Kjartan Sekkingstad from the ASG. According to an exclusive Rappler report, Misuari may have even earned from Sekkingstad's release.

"Then Nur, problem is Nur, parang hinihigop niya iyong ‐ isali na niya iyong Abu Sayyaf (it's like he wants to include the Abu Sayyaf), which I would like to tell the nation now: No. I will not talk peace with the Abu Sayyaf," said Duterte.

He is averse to the idea because including the bandit group in talks would be "like slapping the nation," said Duterte.

in Tehran in June for "security offences" has been released and has left the country, the foreign ministry said on Monday.

The official IRNA news agency quoted a ministry front man as saying that the 65-year-old with dual nationality, who had also been accused of "feminist activities", was freed "for humanitarian reasons".

Hoodfar travelled to Oman and on to Canada, he said.

Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
has said Hoodfar was a founding member of a London-based advocacy group, Women Living Under Moslem Law (WLUML).

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement that Canadians were relieved that Hoodfar had been released and would "soon be reunited with her family, friends and colleagues".

"The government of Canada has been actively and constructively engaged at the highest levels... since her ordeal began," he said.

"In the absence of diplomatic representation of its own in Iran, Canada worked closely with others who were instrumental in helping secure Dr Hoodfar's release -- most notably Oman, Italia and Switzerland

"I would also like to recognize the cooperation of those Iranian authorities who facilitated her release and repatriation," Trudeau said.

"They understand that cases like these impede more productive relations."
The Times of Israel reminds us:
Other known to be held include:

Aid delivered to four besieged towns in Syria
Seventy trucks of humanitarian aid were delivered on Sunday to four besieged towns in Syria for the first time in almost six months, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said.

The aid organization said convoys were delivered to Madaya and Zabdani near Damascus and to the villages of al Foua and Kefraya in Idlib province in the north west.

Madaya, near the border with Lebanon, has a population of around 40,000 and has been besieged by Syrian government-allied forces for around six months. Zabadani has 1,000 people left.

Kefraya and al-Foua, in Idlib province in northwest Syria, have around 20,000 people, according to UN estimates, and have been surrounded by insurgents since April 2015. Last Thursday U.N. relief operations in Syria resumed after a 48-hour suspension due to a deadly attack.

The world body suspended land deliveries after a 31-truck convoy was attacked last Monday at Urem al-Kubra in western Aleppo. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent says a staff member and around 20 civilians were killed and a warehouse destroyed.

Islamic State Eyes Stronghold in Strategic Syrian Province

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters are preparing for a major battle in a critical war-ravaged province, where government troops have successfully driven out rebel forces.

IS has been fighting Syrian forces in eastern Homs province for weeks, gaining ground in villages with hopes for an assault on the beleaguered central city of Homs.

In a video released on social media over the weekend, IS warned government forces that its fighters will advance on central Homs, showing fighters doing training exercises for the battle. The video featured what IS said are the bodies of Syrian soldiers who died in battles with IS.

"Homs is a natural area of operations for (IS)," said Nicholas A. Heras, a Middle East researcher at the Center for a New American Security in Washington. "[Their] would-be caliphate already has a long-established military presence in the contested areas."

Homs has been decimated by war since 2012. The city was one of the first battlegrounds between rebels opposed to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

and government troops. Thousands of soldiers, rebels and civilians have been killed and maimed in the fighting. Tens of thousands of residents fled, and those left behind faced urgent humanitarian needs as the embattled city was virtually cut off from international aid.

Al-Moallem: Syria ready to support formation of unity government
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Syrian was ready to engage in initiatives that could lead to the establishment of a unity government in the war-torn country.

In an interview with Leb-based al-Mayadeen TV aired on Monday, Moallem said the Damascus government has proposed a political roadmap that could put an end to more than five years of war in the Arab country.

He said Damascus would support the idea of holding a referendum on a new constitution followed by parliamentary elections and the formation of a unity government.

Moallem said, however, that a main obstacle to the political settlement of the conflict in Syria was the support provided by governments like the United States, Britannia and La Belle France and their allies in the Middle East to bully boyz operating in the Arab country.

He accused the three Western countries of convening a meeting of the UN Security Council on Sunday to support bully boyz in Syria.

The top Syrian diplomat said the truce deal brokered by Moscow and Washington two weeks ago is still viable. He, however, blamed the US military for the collapse of the ceasefire by mounting a deliberate attack on Syrian armed forces positioned in a military base east of the country.

He said the attack two weeks ago the army positions on Tharda Mountain in Dayr al-Zawr was deliberate and in coordination with ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
bully boyz who "rushed to take control of the area only one hour after the aggression."

Hezbollah Condemns Hattar’s Assassination
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Hezbollah denounced the liquidation of Jordanian writer and journalist Nahed Hattar, who was rubbed out in Amman on Sunday, calling for punishing the perpetrators of the crime.

In a statement released by the party’s Media Relations, Hezbollah praised Hattar as "a struggler against the Zionist scheme and a defender of the Paleostinian cause and the axis of resistance."

"He was really a loud and echoing voice in confronting the Takfiri

acts and genocides," said the statemnet which was released few hours after Hattar’s liquidation.

Hezbollah offered condolences to Hattar’s family and friends, calling on the Jordanian authorities to punish the perpetrators of this crime and those who stand behind them.

Islamic State 'dead set' on using chemical arms: Pentagon spokesman
[REUTERS] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
gunnies are "dead set" on using chemical arms and are likely to try them again as Iraqi forces advance on djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, a Pentagon front man said on Monday, a week after a rocket with a possible chemical agent landed near U.S. troops.

The rocket fired Tuesday landed in an unpopulated area near Qayyara West base, several hundred yards from where hundreds of U.S. troops are working to prepare an airfield for an Iraqi offensive to recapture the city of Mosul. No one was hurt in the attack.

The shell initially tested positive for a mustard agent, but two subsequent tests have been inconclusive and the device is undergoing further tests, Navy Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon front man, told news hounds.

"We fully recognize this is something that ISIS has done before. They've done it many times, at least a couple dozen that we know of where they have launched crude makeshift munitions that are filled with this mustard agent," Davis said using an acronym for the group.

An air strike by the U.S.-led military coalition destroyed an Islamic State chemical weapons factory on Friday near Qayyara, the second attack against a chemical arms facility this month.

Davis said Islamic State's ability to weaponize mustard agent has been rudimentary. The group typically uses a chemical powder bound together with oil, which leaves behind a telltale oil trace.

"It's not generally in a lethal concentration. It's more of an irritant than anything else, but again, not something we view as militarily significant," he said, noting that the gas form of mustard agent used in the First World War was far more lethal.

Even though Islamic State has not perfected the ability to weaponize chemicals, U.S. and Iraqi forces still have to be prepared for a chemical attack, Davis said.

"We recognize this is real. They're dead set on it. They would love to be able to use chemical weapons against us, against the Iraqis as they move forward," Davis said. "We are making every effort to make sure that we're ready for it."
