Campaign against Islamic State in Egypt is creating a humanitarian crisis, says rights group
[WASHINGTONPOST] A humanitarian crisis is emerging in Egypt’s volatile northern Sinai province, Human Rights Watch said Monday.

An Egyptian military campaign launched in February against an active Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate is choking off food, medicines and other vital supplies to an estimated 420,000 residents of four northern cities in need of assistance, the group said in a report.

Security forces, in a quest to weaken the Islamic State branch, known as Wilayat Sinai, have imposed barriers on the movement of people and goods in northern Sinai, including blocking roads and other transport arteries. That has triggered shortages of food, medicines, cooking gas and other essentials.

There are large-scale electricity and water shortages in much of the eastern part of northern Sinai province, aggravating residents’ woes.

"A counterterrorism operation that imperils the flow of essential goods to hundreds of thousands of civilians is unlawful and unlikely to stem violence," Sarah Leah Whitson, Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa director, said in a statement.

Alleged Israeli spy sentenced to death in Algeria
[MIDDLEEASTMONITOR] An individual of Liberian nationality and Lebanese origin who was living illegally in Algeria has been sentenced to death by the criminal court of Ghardaia, reports ObservAlgerie.

Six other African nationals were sentenced to 10 years in prison and given fines of up to 20 million Algerian dinars after being tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
in Ghardaia, 600 kilometres south of Algiers, as part of the operation to dismantle the spy cell.

Their arrests come amidst chaotic protests in the valley of the Mzabs over decades of economic marginalisation and the President Bouteflika
... 10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term. Maybe it's the fifth....
’s attempts to stay on for a fifth term.

The defendants were charged with espionage, organization of a criminal gang that undermined national security, printing, possession and dissemination of subversive documents that glorified terrorism.

The defendants pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
and claimed the only reason they had crossed the Algerian border was in an attempt to reach Europe.
It’s a risky business, this wandering across the landscape to get to the Promised Land, and many fall by the wayside.
The case dates back to January 2016, when security services in Gherdaia announced they had dismantled an Israeli spy cell.
Ynet adds:
Moslem countries frequently accuse either locals or foreigners of spying for Israel. The most notable example, perhaps, is Leb. This past November, the country was in turmoil over the Ziad Itani affair, when the actor-director was placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on suspicion of colluding with Israel.

It was revealed last month, however, that a former senior Lebanese intelligence services official had a hacker fabricate the supposedly damning phone calls served up as evidence of Itani's treachery. The official was arrested, and Itani was consequently released.
No such reprieve is likely in the case of transiting Moslem colonists, though.

Haftar in 'good health' says brother, as he remains out of public view
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Libyan military commander Kahlifa Haftar is in "good health", despite rumours suggesting his condition was critical, according to his younger brother.

Omran Haftar told Egyptian magazine Rose Youssef on Tuesday that his brother had assured him of his good health in a phone conversation, allegedly also expressing plans to return to Libya soon.

"The marshal is in good health, but there are some abusers and traitors who are promoting the rumours of bully boy groups," the strongman's brother said.

"They spread rumours surrounding the health of the marshal and publish false news about his death," he added.

Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
is the leader of the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA), whose officials have insisted its leader is undergoing routine medical treatment in La Belle France.

Guma el-Gamaty, a Libyan analyst and head of the Taghyeer party, told Middle East Eye that though Omran Haftar’s comments refute the persistent rumours surrounding his brother, they do not provide any real evidence to the contrary.

"This statement is most likely part of a disinformation campaign to hide the seriousness of Haftar’s condition," he said, adding that it could be an attempt to subdue potential power struggles or a backlash.

Where the speculation began
Speculation about the ailing health of the military leader spread earlier this month. Al Jazeera reported on 11 April that he was in a coma at a hospital in Gay Paree, after suffering a stroke.

MEE reported last week that the general is suffering from lung cancer, which has spread to his brain, according to a European diplomat.

"He is unable to talk or even fully comprehend. He cannot even sit or stand up," said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.

"The doctor treating him says that even if he responds partially to treatment, it will be temporary and he will never be normal again."

With a potentially weakened Haftar, analysts say it is an opportunity to reinvigorate the political process in the fragmented North African state, and give renewed momentum to negotiations.

Sahel al-Qaeda offered immunity in 'secret French-backed deal'
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] La Belle France, Algeria and Mali are operating a secret agreement to offer Sahel gunnies immunity in return for them laying down arms, security sources in Algeria have told Middle East Eye.

The Algerian army announced on Friday the "surrender" of Larbi Khelifa - also known as Abu Ayoub - at Tamanrasset near the border with Mali. According to Middle East Eye’s sources, Khelifa, who had been wanted since 2010, is the emir of the al-Furqan cell of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), a small group responsible for a rocket attack on a gas plant in the Algerian Sahara in March 2016.

This surrender and laying down of arms, according to an army statement, will give them immunity from prosecution, a policy which has benefitted slightly more than 40 gunnies since the end of 2017 in the border zone of Tamanrasset, 2,000km south of Algiers.

According to MEE’s source, the surrender was "made possible thanks to a secret agreement signed in July 2017 between Algiers, Bamako and Gay Paree".

"Terrorist groups operating in northern Mali are feeling enormous pressure due to all the African, Malian and French troops carrying out sweeping operations in the area," an Algerian security source told Middle East Eye.

Saudi FM: Qatar Regime Will Collapse within Days of US Military Base Exit
[AAWSAT] Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir stated on Tuesday that Doha must pay the price for the presence of American troops in Syria.

He remarked in this regard that the withdrawal of American troops from Qatar

would lead to the collapse of the Doha regime "within days."

The minister made his statements in wake of a presser held between US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...

Qatar must deploy its forces in Syria "before Trump lifts American protection off Doha," Jubeir continued.

The US military air base of al-Udeid in Qatar lies southwest of Doha.

Houthi leader's death strikes at heart of Yemeni group
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Political leader, negotiator and military commander, Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
number two Saleh al-Samad's death in a Saudi air strike has left a large hole in the Yemeni movement's leadership, analysts and experts have told Middle East Eye.

Yet, they say, his demise last week could signal even greater concerns for the Iran-backed movement, with the security of their top commanders now appearing compromised and an assault on key port Hodeidah on the horizon.

By far the most senior Houthi to have been killed in the conflict since a Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015, Samad was a prominent figure in many areas of the rebel group's activities.

As the head of the Houthis' supreme political council, Samad negotiated with their erstwhile allies, the General People's Congress (GPC), smoothed relations with local Yemeni tribes, and was effectively head of Houthi-controlled parts of the country.

As military commander, meanwhile, he drew notoriety by assaulting Sanaa's presidential palace in January 2015, leading a band of gunnies in an offensive that caused the internationally recognised government of Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to fall apart and retreat to Aden.

Question marks now surround his replacement, Mahdi al-Mashat, formerly the representative of the rebel leader Abdul Malek al-Houthi, and his ability to replicate Samad's effectiveness.

"It will be very hard to replace him," Yemeni analyst Baraa Shiban tells Middle East Eye.

"Samad managed to keep some form of tribal structure within the Houthi movement. Mashat is more extreme in terms of his views so I find it so hard to see him doing a similar job."

Europe
30 French imams say they’ll help counter Muslim extremism, oppose anti-Semitism
[IsraelTimes] Religious leaders complain over 'the confiscation of our religion by criminals... who are ignorant, disrupted, and idle youth'

Thirty imams in La Belle France signed an open letter calling on their colleagues to help counter Moslem extremism.

The letter, which appeared Tuesday in the daily LeMonde, expressed "compassion for all our fellow citizens who have been directly or indirectly affected by terrorism and by the anti-Semitic crimes that have blindly struck our country."

It added that the imams are "suffering from the confiscation of our religion by criminals."

The letter was in response to a manifesto published on Sunday in LeGay Pareeien, the largest circulation newspaper in La Belle France, signed by 300 politicians, intellectuals, and artists denouncing the "new anti-Semitism in La Belle France" driven by radical Islamists in the country.

The manifesto also suggested that verses of the Koran calling for the "murder and punishment of Jews, Christians, and disbelievers" be removed on the grounds that they are "obsolete."

The imams offered their "theological expertise" to help guard against radicalized Moslems. They said that Islam has fallen into the hands of "an ignorant, disrupted, and idle youth. A naive youth, easy prey for ideologues who exploit this dismay."

"For more than two decades, subversive readings and practices of Islam have been rampant in the Moslem community, generating a religious anarchy, rife throughout society. A cancerous situation to which some imams unfortunately contributed, often unconsciously," the letter said.

The imams called on the "enlightened imams" to provide "counter-speech that prevents all practices of rupture and all forms of extremism that can directly or indirectly lead to terrorism."

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque of Gay Paree, in a statement said the manifesto "subjected French Moslems and French Islam to an unbelievable and unfair trial."

"French citizens of the Moslem confession are largely attached to their republican values and weren’t waiting for this manifesto to denounce and fight decades of antisemitism and Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
in all its forms," he wrote.
Not all had the same response:
French Muslims blast anti-Semitism letter as attack on Islam

[IsraelTimes] A French manifesto calling for certain passages of the Quran to be removed on the grounds of rising anti-Semitism sparked anger Monday from Muslims who said their religion was being unfairly “put on trial.”

The open letter published Sunday in the Parisien newspaper blamed “Islamist radicalization” for what it said was “quiet ethnic purging” in the Paris region, with abuse forcing Jewish families to move out.

After a series of high-profile attacks on Jews, Muslim leaders contacted by AFP acknowledged that anti-Semitism was a problem in France. But they charged that the nearly 300 signatories, who included ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy and former prime minister Manuel Valls, were blaming a whole religion for the actions of an extremist minority.

“The only thing we can agree on is that we must all unite against anti-Semitism,” said Ahmet Ogras, head of the French Council of the Muslim Faith umbrella group.

Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, said the manifesto “subjected French Muslims and French Islam to an unbelievable and unfair trial.”

“It creates a clear risk of pitching religious communities against one another,” he said in a statement.

But Tareq Oubrou, imam of the Grand Mosque of the southern city of the Bordeaux, pointed out that Islam was not the only religion whose ancient holy texts contain anachronistic passages.

“Any number of holy texts are violent, even the Gospel,” Oubrou said, adding that the signatories, who also included celebrities like actor Gerard Depardieu, had misinterpreted the Quran.

The writer Pascal Bruckner, among those who signed the letter, told France Inter radio it had not been intended “to stigmatize but to spur on the goodwill of reformist Muslims.”

The letter said that since 2006, “11 Jews have been assassinated — and some tortured — by radical Islamists because they were Jewish.”

Officially, the number of anti-Semitic crimes fell in France in 2017 for a third year running, according to the interior ministry, down seven percent.
How much of that is due to Jews removing their children from public schools and themselves from isolated situations? How much to additional armed guards around Jewish schools, synagogues, and communities?
But Jews are the target of about a third of France’s recorded hate crimes despite making up only about 0.7 percent of the population.

The half-a-million-plus Jewish community is the largest in Europe but has been hit by a wave of emigration to Israel
...and elsewhere, and migration within France from small, isolated Jewish communities to a few large ones...
in the past two decades, partly due to anti-Semitism in immigrant neighborhoods.

#3  Whats worse than an outright attack? A 5th column.

Realistically speaking, this sort of thing should have been bankrolled long ago. Its the only lasting solution - reform of Islam, but covertly gelding them.

Because simply killing ALL muslims isnt a solution, unless you want to be keeping company with Hitler.

So kill the extremist Imamas (dronezap, etc), and support the non-radicals, like the ones in Kurdistan, the Druze, the Sufi, and others.

Biggest obstacle? Iran and the Saudis who bankroll the worst Shia and Sunni extremists.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan slams opposition for bolstering new party
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
on Monday hit out at plans by the main opposition party to bolster The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's newest party and enable it to take part in snap presidential and parliamentary elections in June.

There had been concerns that the Iyi ("Good") Party, which until now had only five MPs, would not be able to take part in the elections, which Erdogan said in a shock announcment last week he was bringing forward from 3 November 2019 to 24 June 2018.

But on Sunday, 15 politicians from the secular-nationalist Republican People's Party (CHP) said they were joining the Iyi Party, giving it the necessary number of MPs to participate in the elections.

Under Ottoman Turkish law, the new party - with 15 more politicians - could form a parliamentary group that could take part in the polls.

Shortly after the move was announced, the Supreme Election Board (YSK) confirmed that the Iyi Party could indeed take part in the June elections.

In reaction, Erdogan condemned the opposition's manoeuvres and was quoted by the Hurriyet daily as saying that "for the parliament to fall to this state is a disaster for us".

The two elections will bring in the new executive presidency, boosting the president's powers, after constitutional changes were approved in a referendum in April 2017.

The government argues the changes are necessary to streamline decision-making, but the opposition argues the moves will bring in one-man rule.

Monday marked a public holiday in Turkey and tensions were high during a special session of parliament.

MPs of Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) shouted down CHP leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, when he accused the government of a coup on 20 July 2016 - the date when the state of emergency was introduced.

Following the 15 July 2016 attempted coup, the government imposed the emergency and renewed it for the seventh time last week despite fierce opposition.

Facebook says it is taking down more material about ISIS, al-Qaeda
[REUTERS] Facebook Inc said on Monday that it removed or put a warning label on 1.9 million pieces of Death Eater content related to ISIS or al-Qaeda in the first three months of the year, or about double the amount from the previous quarter.

Facebook, the world’s largest social media network, also published its internal definition of "terrorism" for the first time, as part of an effort to be more open about internal company operations.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has been putting pressure on Facebook and its tech industry competitors to remove Death Eater content more rapidly or face legislation forcing them to do so, and the sector has increased efforts to demonstrate progress.

Of the 1.9 million pieces of Death Eater content, the "vast majority" was removed and a small portion received a warning label because it was shared for informational or counter-extremist purposes, Facebook said in a post on a corporate blog here.

Facebook uses automated software such as image matching to detect some Death Eater material. The median time required for takedowns was less than one minute in the first quarter of the year, the company said.

Facebook, which bans murderous Moslems from its network, has not previously said what its definition encompasses.

The company said it defines terrorism as: "Any non-governmental organization that engages in premeditated acts of violence against persons or property to intimidate a civilian population, government, or international organization in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim."

The definition is "agnostic to ideology," the company said, including such varied groups as religious Death Eaters, white supremacists and Death Eater environmentalists.

India-Pakistan
Salahudin asks civil society to advise JRL on strategy
[GREATERKASHMIR] Reacting on the unabated civilian killings in Kashmire, Hizb ul Mujhadeen chief Syed Salahudin has appealed the Kashmire intelligentsia to help the Joint Resistance Leadership to formulate an effective strategy.

"Kashmire movement belongs to people. I wholeheartedly appeal and request intellectuals, journalist fraternity, civil society, professionals to come up with suggestions and share them with Joint Resistance Leadership so that an effective strategy could be chalked out," Salahudin said in an interview with news agency CNS.

He said some people can have ideological differences with the leadership but instead of resorting to mud-slinging they should come up with constructive criticism to help the nation.

He also impressed upon Pakistain to change her strategy on Kashmire.

"Rallies, resolutions and press statements are not enough to shake India. Pakistain needs to knock at the doors of United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
and its Security Council. It should wake up international human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
organizations from deep slumber. It should change its diplomatic strategy and knock at the doors of every country," he said.

Salahudin, who also heads the United Jihad Council - a conglomerate of krazed killer outfits fighting in Kashmire - said that by nature the people of Kashmire are peaceful but they have been pushed to the wall.

"We are not against dialogue but the dialogue should be time-bound and meaningful. The dialogue should be Kashmire-centric and tripartite in nature. Kashmire is not a border conflict or an internal dispute. It is a live and real issue that can only be resolved through dialogue between India, Pakistain and people of Jammu and Kashmire."

When asked why the JRL was not talking to New Delhi’s interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma, Salahudin said: "Talks should have an agenda and these should not be held just to buy time."

Responding to a question on Zakir Musa, he said, "We don’t own his ideology. We have already suspended him and have put it on record that Kashmire movement has no international agenda, it is purely indigenous."

He said there are some elements who try to defame Kashmire movement on social media. "We know these elements very well and will expose them."

Arrests, killings betray forces’ frustration: Lashkar-e-Taiba
[GREATERKASHMIR] Condemning the arrest of youth across Valley particularly in south Kashmire, the Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) chief Mahmood Shah today said, "It is strange that while India on the one hand is forcing the freedom fighters to lay down their weapons, but at same moment it is arresting the Hurriyat leaders and spilling the blood of innocent youth."

"This deceit will not last any longer than now. The counter-attacks by the turbans and their support by the public has frustrated the Indian forces so much that they are asking the freedom fighters to lay down their weapons, which in itself is against their code," the LeT front man Dr Abdullah Ghazanwi, in a statement to KNS, quoted Mahmood Shah as having said.

He said, "In reality, India is seeking a safe exit from Jammu Kashmire. Be it the disguise of fake promises of negotiations or the use of barbaric force by Indian Forces, all are nothing but to sabotage the indigenous freedom struggle of Kashmiris. The freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmire is in its decisive stages. The public, Hurriyat leaders and the holy warrior are on the same page which is evident from the statement of Indian Army Chief." Mahmood Shah has appealed to the human rights

Iraq
Iraq confiscates thousands properties of Islamic State members’ families
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq has seized thousands of homes belonging to families which had their members joining the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

London-based the New Arab said the local governments in seven Iraqi provinces confiscated nearly 18000 properties of families of Islamic State holy warriors, saying that the measure won approval from the federal government.

An official in Baghdad told the paper that the measure targeted properties owned by the parents, siblings, spouses and children of those accused of operating under the bully boy group. It, however, went further to include those belonging to the suspect’s cousins, the official said.

The seized properties included, houses, flats, farmlands and shops.

The official, however, suggested that the measures are at odds with the Iraqi constitution, which spared families the responsibility for the actions of adolescent sons.

He revealed that those confiscated units were given to army and police members dwelling in temporary lodging, as well as to families of security personnel killed during the war against IS, while others were turned into government and political parties offices.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State Lions of Islam in December, ending a three-year war against the group which proclaimed a self-styled "Islamic caliphate". The government has sentenced dozens to death for involvement with the group and declared plans to deport others of foreign nationalities. But some human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
observers have voiced fears that government bodies were taking retaliatory measures against holy warriors’ families, urging Iraq not to punish those for the wrongdoing of their sons.

Lawyer: former Iraqi regime figures to be released soon
Perhaps, or perhaps not.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A lawyer representing enjugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
figures of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s regime has said they could be released soon under pressure from the United States.

Saudi-owned al-Hayat newspaper quoted Badie Aref saying that he "has trusted information that former regime figures would be released soon under U.S. pressures to free unconvicted persons".

Aref was apparently referring to former defense minister Sultan Hashem, who had been sentenced to death but had the implementation of the penalty pending since 2009.

According to Aref, nearly 20 former regine figures are enjugged

in Nasserya Prison,Dhi Qar province, south of Iraq. "Those consist of former regime officials and officers, and it is hoped that some of those who have not been prosecuted will be released", Aref stated, claiming that many of them complain of mistreatment.

After its intervention in Iraq against Saddam Hussein in 2003, the U.S. issued a list of 55 wanted figures from Saddam’s government. Five of those, including Saddam, were executed, six were killed, eight died in jail and 16 were released before U.S. troops pull out in 2011.

Five Saddam aides are still on the lam, including his deputy, Ezzat al-Douro, who was declared dead several times but appeared recently in a video commemorating the establishment of Saddam’s now-defunct Baath Party.

Malaysia finds motorbike allegedly used in Hamas drone expert’s killing
[IsraelTimes] Local police chief announces development in investigation of drive-by shooting of Fadi al-Batsh, blamed on Israel

Malaysian police have found the cycle of violence allegedly used in the drive-by shooting of a Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, rocket and drone expert in Kuala Lumpur, the national police chief said Tuesday.

Fadi Mohammad al-Batsh, 35, was killed on Saturday in the country’s capital as he walked to a mosque for dawn prayers, according to Malaysian authorities. His family and the Hamas terror group have blamed the hit on Israel’s Mossad spy agency. Israel has denied the claim.

National police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that the motorbike allegedly used by the assailants had been found in the Setapak area of Kuala Lumpur.

"The cycle of violence is in good condition," he told news hounds, without giving further details

Police previously said they believed either a BMW or a Kawasaki was used in the attack.

Earlier Tuesday, the Paleostinian envoy to Malaysia said Batsh’s body will be flown to the Gazoo Strip through Egypt within 24 hours. His family said the body would be flown to Egypt and enter the Paleostinian enclave Wednesday at 2 p.m. through the Rafah crossing. His wife and three children would also be granted access, according to the claim.

On Sunday, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman had said Israel was asking the Egyptian government not to allow Batsh’s body to be returned to his family in the Gazoo Strip until Hamas returns to Israel the bodies of two IDF soldiers, as well as two mentally ill Israeli citizens, it is holding in the enclave.

Hamas said Batsh was a "loyal" member and a "scientist of Paleostine’s youth scholars." It said he had made "important contributions" and participated in international forums in the field of energy.

Hebrew media reports said Batsh was deeply involved in Hamas’s efforts to improve the accuracy of its rockets and to develop drones. The Gazoo-born scientist had reportedly published material recently on drone development, and on transmitters for controlling drones.

Hadashot TV news said Hamas has sent numerous young Gazooks for technical training in Malaysia. The country has proved a "paradise" for Hamas in recent years, Channel 10 news reported.

Indonesia’s Homegrown Militants Re-emerge
[ASIASENTINEL] In the early morning of Feb. 11, a congregation of more than 100 worshippers packed into the small St. Lidwina Catholic church in Sleman, Yogyakarta, 530 km from Jakarta, to take part in the weekly Sunday Mass.

Little more than 30 minutes of the service had passed when a young man yielding a meter-long samurai sword burst in through the main entrance and began attacking terror-stricken worshippers indiscriminately, leaving four people seriously injured as others ran for their lives before the perpetrator was shot in the leg and tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
The attack exposed the lingering threat from homegrown Lions of Islam in a country that has largely avoided the scourge of Islamist terrorism since the collapse of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in the late 2000s. In the years since, several newly-formed groups along with JI’s offshoots have remained active beneath the radar, posing only a latent threat to security in the world’s most populous Moslem nation.

The risk of returning ISIS fighters from war zones in Syria, Iraq and Marawi adds an extra dimension to the threat. Returnees will be battle-hardened and trained in combat, as well as possessing tactical know-how and in some cases bomb-making skills. At least 500 Indonesians have traveled to fight alongside ISIS in Syria and Iraq while more than 30 are thought to have participated in the Marawi conflict.

Attack on anti-Hezbollah candidate exposes splits among Lebanese Shiites
[FRANCE24] An attack on an independent Lebanese Shiite candidate running on an anti-Hezbollah platform in the May 6 general elections has exposed the rifts among Lebanese Shiites and the movement's strongarm tactics. But will it affect the upcoming polls?

On Sunday afternoon, Mohammed al-Amin was in Beirut when he got a text message from a relative saying his father had been attacked in their ancestral village of Shaqra in southern Leb. The 28-year-old tech industry worker immediately called his mother in Shaqra, but she had no idea what he was talking about. "My mother hadn’t heard anything about the incident although she was there in the village," said Mohammed in a phone interview with FRANCE 24.

It wasn’t long before Mohammed got the confirmation he was seeking. "About 30 minutes later, I saw that some TV stations were running news flashes that a candidate was under attack," he explained.
