-Short Attention Span Theater-
U.S. Issues Worldwide Travel Alert
[AnNahar] The United States issued a worldwide travel alert Friday, warning Americans to be vigilant during the holiday period, especially in the wake of a deadly siege in Australia.
Stay safe out there, those of you who are out there.
Sydney this week saw a dramatic siege in a cafe that began Monday and left two hostages and a gunman dead.

"The lone wolf attack in Sydney, Australia... resulting in the deaths of two hostages, is a reminder that U.S. citizens should be extra cautious, maintain a very high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to enhance their personal security," the State Department alert read.

The agency said an analysis of past attacks "strongly suggests" bully boyz this holiday season are focusing not only on U.S. government facilities but also on hotels, shopping areas, places of worship and schools.

"U.S. citizens abroad should be mindful that terrorist groups and those inspired by them can pose unpredictable threats in public venues," the alert said.

"Palin State Department Issues Travel Alert to Muslim World:

It has come to our attention that US citizens may be visiting parts of the Muslim world in the next week or so. We can't imagine why, but that's what we hear. Be advised that our citizens should be regarded as armed, dangerous, and fully supported by the US nuclear arsenal. Trust us: if one of our citizens reports poor room service, your ass is in serious trouble. Thank you for your attention to this public service announcement. And remember: if you see a US citizen, he is bringing an ass-whuppin' with him."

Two Men Burnt Alive in DR Congo after Attack
[AnNahar] Two men were burnt alive Saturday by civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
's volatile east after they attacked a military office, a local official said.
Better to be caught by Bangladeshi townspeople, with their iron bars, than by DRC civilians, with their fondness for incineration.
Kipling advises strongly against being captured by Afghan women...
The incident in the town of Beni, about 250 kilometres (150 miles) north of the North Kivu capital Goma, followed an attack on Friday night.

"The military prosecutor's offices were attacked at around 9:00 pm by men whose identities are not yet clear," Beni's mayor Bwanakawa Nyonyi told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"They were repulsed by the army," he said, adding that two of the attackers were found by locals at a nearby plot early Saturday and "were burnt alive while three others are in the hands of the army."

A military front man confirmed the attack on the office but did not give details.

Beni, a major trade centre in the area, has been wracked by violence and unrest over the past two decades with both local and foreign gangs operating in the region.

The Congolese army (FARDC), the large U.N. mission deployed in the troubled country (MONUSCO) and several diplomats blame a recent wave of attacks in the Beni region on a mainly Moslem rebel movement from neighbouring Uganda, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Recent massacres in Beni have claimed more than 260 lives since October, according to local sources.

Driven out of Uganda by the army of President Yoweri Museveni, the ADF has maintained bases in the eastern DRC since 1995 and is currently estimated to number about 400 fighters.

The Congolese army tried to wipe out the ADF this year, but after initial successes in an offensive, the FARDC troops fell back and the Ugandan rebels reasserted control.

Residents of the Beni region have protested at the perceived inaction and incompetence of the army and the U.N. soldiers.

With around 20,000 men, including a special brigade, MONUSCO has a mandate to protect civilians and to neutralize gangs that have emerged in the east over more than 20 years.

Arabia
Bomb Explodes in Shiite Village in Bahrain
[AnNahar] A kaboom in a Shiite village in Bahrain, the scene of simmering unrest since anti-government protests were crushed in 2011, has left three coppers slightly maimed, officials said.

The three were on patrol in the village of Bani Jamra when the blast occurred, the Gulf kingdom's interior ministry said in a statement on Twitter posted late Friday.

It said that the three sustained minor injuries, describing the kaboom as a "terrorist" blast and adding that "necessary steps are being taken", without elaborating.

Witnesses said that the blast occurred late Friday and that security forces swiftly sealed off the village, which lies not far from the capital Manama.

They added that a young protester was also injured in festivities with police in another Shiite village, Sanabes, late on Friday.

Attacks against security forces have intensified this year.

Two people, including a Jordanian policeman, were killed in the area last week.

It was the first deadly attack on security forces since parliamentary polls in November boycotted by the main Iranian catspaw, which is calling for democratic reforms in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

The election was the first in the Gulf state since authorities quelled the 2011 protests.

Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, remains deeply divided three years after the month-long demonstrations.

Protests still frequently break out in Bahrain's Shiite villages, sometimes sparking festivities with police.

Attacks on the security forces have increased this year, with three coppers -- including an Emirati -- killed in a bombing in a Shiite area on March 3.

Another policeman was killed in a kaboom in a Shiite village in February during protests marking the third anniversary of the failed uprising.

4 Dead in Police Operation in Saudi Village
[AnNahar] Saudi police potted four "terrorists" Saturday in a Shiite village in an operation to arrest the people who rubbed out a soldier there last weekend, the front man for the interior ministry said.

During a shootout in Adamiya, "four terrorists, including the primary suspect in the shooting of soldier Abdelaziz bin Ahmed al-Assiri, were killed," the front man was quoted by the official SPA news agency as saying in a statement.

One policeman was maimed.

Assiri died Sunday when officers came under fire from farms near Awamiya.

The village, just west of Dammam city on the Gulf coast, has witnessed festivities between security forces of the Sunni-dominated kingdom and protesters from the minority Shiite community.

In February, a firefight in Awamiya left two coppers and two suspects dead. Other shootings have occurred there in subsequent months.

Most Saudi Shiites live in the oil-rich east, and many complain of marginalisation.

Since 2011, protests and sporadic attacks on security forces have occurred in Shiite areas, leaving around 20 Shiite youth dead.

Activists say several death sentences have also been handed down by courts in the kingdom since the demonstrations began.

'Allahu Akbar'-hollering knifeman gunned down by French cops
[Telegraph] French police on Saturday shot dead a man who attacked them with a knife in a police station while shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great" in Arabic), a source said.

The man injured the face of an officer at the entrance to the police station in Joue-les-Tours near the city of Tours in central France and injured two other before he was shot, the interior ministry said.

Anti-terrorist investigators were probing the incident, a judicial source said.

The perpetrator was a French citizen born in Burundi in 1994 and known to police for common crimes, a source close to the case told AFP,

adding that the attacker "shouted 'Allahu Akbar' from the moment he entered until his last breath."

2 car bombs rock southern Sweden's city of Malmo
As the article notes, they've been having a bit of a bombing problem in Malmo recently, but don't know why or who.
[Ynet] Swedish police say two boom-mobiles have shattered dozens of windows in a multiethnic district of Malmo, Sweden's third largest city.

Police spokeswoman Linda Pleym says no one was injured by Saturday's pre-dawn kabooms in Rosengaard, a district dominated by immigrants from Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia and Leb. One boom-mobile went kaboom! at the foot of a building, the other in a parking lot nearby.

It was unclear who was behind the two kabooms and if they were connected. No arrests were immediately made.

The blasts were the latest in a series that has rocked the southern Sweden city in recent months. Earlier this year, a downtown building that houses a court house, police and prosecution offices and a detention center was twice targeted. No one was injured.

India-Pakistan
Seven Dead as Pakistan Hits Militant Hideouts
[AnNahar] Seven people including a policeman and paramilitary soldier were killed in two separate incidents when Pak security forces hit hard boy hideouts in the restive northwest Saturday morning, officials said.

In the first incident, police and paramilitary soldiers raided suspected hideouts in Shabqadar, a town around 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
"A soldier of the Frontier Corps and a policeman embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with snuffies in Mechani neighbourhood of Shabqadar Saturday morning," local police official Wilayat Khan told Agence La Belle France Presse.

He said two snuffies belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), the hard boy organization that carried out Tuesday's massacre at a military-run school in Peshawar -- the deadliest ever attack in Pakistain -- were also killed.

Rasheed Khan, another bigwig confirmed the incident. He said the snuffies opened fire when the police and paramilitary troops raided their hideouts.

Spokesman of the Jamatul Ahrar faction of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
, grabbed credit for the attack.

"We will continue to target security forces and the police in the future too," he told AFP in a telephone call from some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location.

In another incident, five members of the TTP including a local commander were killed.

"Five members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) were killed in a raid on their hideout in Gujjar Gadi neighbourhood of Matni, around 16 miles south of Peshawar," a security bigshot told AFP.

The incident was confirmed by other local intelligence sources.

The army has been waging a major offensive against longstanding Taliban and other hard boy strongholds in the restive tribal areas on the Afghan border for the last six months.

But a series of fresh strikes after Tuesday's Peshawar attack, which left 149 people dead -- most of them children, suggest the military is stepping up its campaign.

As the Peshawar tragedy unfolded, army chief General Raheel Sharif said the attack had renewed the forces' determination to push for the hard boys' "final elimination".

US drone strike in Pakistan kills 5 militants
[Ynet] A US drone fired two missiles at myrmidon hideout in northwestern Pakistain on Saturday, killing at least five Taliban fighters, two security officials said.

In a separate operation, the military said Pak security forces killed five "terrorists" on the outskirts of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, where the Pak Taliban carried out a school massacre earlier this week, killing 148 people, mainly children.

The drone strike took place in the town of Datta Khel in North Wazoo, where Pak troops have been carrying out a major operation against local and foreign Lions of Islam since June, the officials said.

The officials said the men killed in the drone strike fought under local Pak Taliban capo Hafiz Gul Bahadur
...a member of the Madda Khel clan of the Uthmanzai Waziris. Educated in a Deobandi madrassa located in Multan, he is affiliated with the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) political party. Upon the formation of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in December 2007, he was announced as the group's overall naib amir under Baitullah Mehsud, who was based in South Wazoo, but has largely distanced himself from the TTP due to rivalries with the Mehsuds and disagreements about the TTP's attacks against the Pak state..
. It was not immediately clear if the drone strike was connected to the school massacre.

Peshawar school massacre mastermind warns of more attacks
The terrorist who supervised the Peshawar school massacre has threatened more attacks, if the military and the intelligence agencies do not stop anti-terror operations, media reported on Saturday.
Zool never has enough blood...
In a video with English subtitles posted on Tehreek-i-Taleban Pakistan’s (TTP) website, Umar Mansoor said that Tuesday’s attack on the Army Public School which killed 148 people, including 132 children, was in retaliation to army operations, Dawn online reported.

Security agencies had intercepted communication between Umar Mansoor, also known as Khalifa Umar and Umar Narey, and the suicide squad during the seven-hour shooting spree at the school that helped identify him as the main handler. Khalifa, TTP’s ‘commander’ for Peshawar and the arms-manufacturing region of Darra Adamkhel, is head of the Tariq Geedar group.

Authorities traced a call to Afghanistan’s Naziyan district in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

TTP spokesman, Mohammad Khurasani said in a statement on Friday that TTP men had been “instructed not to target kids in the primary section of the school”.
He's lying of course, he's a spokesman, it's what they do...
“The fidayeen (suicide attackers) were kept informed of these instructions during the attack,” he said.

Hagel authorizes up to 1,300 additional troops to be deployed in Iraq
[IraqiNews] Up to 1,300 more U.S. troops, including approximately 1,000 soldiers from the Army?s 82nd Airborne Division, will begin to deploy to Iraq in late January, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said today.

?Their mission will be to train, advise and assist Iraqi security forces,? Kirby told news hounds at a Pentagon briefing. ?This deployment is part of the additional 1,500 troops that the president authorized in November.?

The roughly 300 troops who are deploying in the same timeframe as the 82nd Airborne group will be from multiple services, the admiral said. Their contributions will be in ?largely enabler capabilities,? Kirby added.

?What makes this [deployment] different is simply the geography,? Kirby explained. The advising teams will operate in the Anbar area and north of Baghdad, he said.

Kirby added, ?But they?re still going to be on a base and advising and assisting at the same higher headquarters level, [like] the 12 teams that are already there are doing.?

While the American troops will be interacting directly with Iraqi troops, the admiral emphasized that those interactions will be occurring in a training environment and not out in the field.
"No, no -- perish the thought!"
The overall mission is still designed around training 12 Iraqi brigades, including nine from the Iraqi security force and three from the Peshmerga, Kirby said.

Army Carries Out Raids in Several Areas, Arrests Suspects
[AnNahar] The Lebanese army detained several suspects for carrying out terror-linked acts, including a Syrian national, who was infiltrating into the northeastern border town of Arsal.

The army said in a communique issued on Saturday that Syrian national Mohammed Mustapha Mustapha was detained while trying to infiltrate illegally into Lebanese territories by evading checkpoints.

He is suspected of having links to a terrorist organization and carrying suspicious documents.

According to the statement, Mustapha was riding a cycle of violence without having a licensee.

The communique also pointed out that an army unit raided several suspicious locations in the northern Metn areas of Fanar and al-Sabtiyeh, arresting two Syrians, a Paleostinian and three Lebanese nationals.

The unit seized in the possession of the apprehended men light weapons, drugs, cameras and communication equipment.

The statement said that all suspects, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent judiciary.

The army and security forces had been carrying out in recent months raids in various regions throughout Leb in search for wanted runaways and suspected terrorists.

The army has been cracking down on Syrian refugees across the country after the military engaged in battles with snuffies from al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra

There are fears that the Syrian refugee encampments in Leb could turn into areas that harbor bad boys, or a springboard to head to Syrian or Lebanese territories for violent acts.

IS Executes Syrian for Aiding Regime Air Strikes

group has publicly executed a Syrian it accused of planting tracking devices for deadly regime air strikes, SITE Intelligence reported on Saturday.

The jihadist group posted footage of the accused being paraded before a crowd but the video deliberately freezes at the point an IS fighter pulls his head back and holds a knife to his neck, the U.S.-based monitoring group said.

After the execution in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, the jihadists paraded the body of the accused on a cross.

IS charged that more than 190 people had been killed in the air strikes that the man had abetted.

In October and November, the Syrian regime sharply intensified its air strikes on areas held by IS or other rebel groups.

In just 40 days, some 2,000 strikes killed more than 500 people, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Some of the deadliest hit the IS "capital" of Raqa on November 25, killing at least 95 people, but air strikes have also hit the jihadists in the eastern part of Aleppo province which they control.

IS has earned worldwide notoriety for its release of often grisly video footage of its executions of Western hostages, captured soldiers and civilians accused of breaching its brutal version of Islamic law.

#1  As per FREEREPUBLIC, the ISIS/ISIL repor has executed up to 100 foreign fighters for attempting to leave the Group + Global Jihad.

ITS ONE THING TO JOIN THE HARD BOYZ, BUT QUITE ANOTHER THING TO TRY TO LEAVE, REGARDLESS OF THE MERITS.

You got the wrong 'Mahmoud' -- the one you're looking for has a beard. That's all we know so you should whack everyone in your organization with that name and a beard. Good luck...

That's 50 strikes a day by a depleted, poorly-maintained air force. Whereas our team can't seem to do more than 2 or 3 a day.

Kurds advance against Islamic State in Syria’s Kobani
[IsraelTimes] Kurdish fighters advanced Saturday in the contested northern Syrian town of Kobani after heavy festivities with the Islamic State

group, a Kurdish official and an activist group said.

Nawaf Khalil, a front man for the Kurdish Democratic Union Party, said Kurdish fighters advanced in six neighborhoods and have besieged the IS-held cultural center east of town. He added that Kurdish fighters captured the Yarmouk school, southeast of Kobani where eight bodies of IS fighters were found.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the main Syrian Kurdish force known as the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, killed several IS fighters.

According to an Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
TV report, American ground troops also engaged Islamic State fighters in Iraq’s Anbar province. The US Central Command was looking into the reports of US soldiers fighting IS for the first time since Arclight airstrikes against the jihadist group began earlier this year, Bloomberg reported.

The IS group began its Kobani offensive in mid-September, capturing parts of the town as well as dozens of nearby villages. Hundreds of fighters on both sides have been killed since.

Kurdish forces have gradually pushed the krazed killer group back in recent weeks with the help of US-led coalition Arclight airstrikes.

The push in Kobani came a day after YPG fighters opened a corridor between their positions in northeastern Syria and Mount Sinjar in neighboring Iraq where Iraqi peshmerga fighters have been on the offensive as well. Earlier this week, Iraqi peshmerga fighters were also able to open another corridor to Mount Sinjar.

Iraq’s Kurdistan Region Security Council said peshmerga fighters launched a new offensive on Saturday toward Mount Sinjar and were able to capture the nearby area of Mushrefa.

The statement said that early Saturday, 32 truckloads of food, water and other aid departed from the northern Iraqi city of Erbil to Mount Sinjar through the “corridor established by the courageous Peshmerga forces.”

The Islamic State group captured almost a third of Iraq and Syria earlier this year, plunging the region into deep crisis.

In early August, the gunnies captured Iraqi towns of Sinjar and Zumar, prompting tens of thousands of people from the Yazidi minority to flee to the mountain, where they became trapped. Many were eventually airlifted by a passageway through Syria back into Iraq, where they found refuge in Iraq’s northern Kurdish semi-autonomous region.

#4  Pappy. Most likely.

Witnesses said the reason those US soldiers were in the fight was that they were indeed under attack. It was a necessary defensive posture.

However, the US Military being compromised by the Obama regime is not a positive thing in regards to US troop morale. However, it is time for them to do what it takes to survive, just like the Kurds.
