Fierce clashes as pro-government forces push into central Benghazi
[Libya Herald] Heavy fighting
... as opposed to the more usual name-calling or slapsy...
in central Benghazi raged throughout the night and into this morning as pro-government forces pushed into the heart of the city.

Libyan National Army (LNA) vehicles with mounted antiaircraft guns have been positioned on the city's main thoroughfare of Jamal Abdel Nasser Street, appearing to rally before moving further into Benghazi's contested downtown area.

Fighting between army and Islamist forces from Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council (BRSC) began last night in the Salmani and Kish districts. Civilians and armed vigilante groups from both sides have reportedly joined the fray.

The festivities in Salmani have centred around the Al-Jaraa roundabout, one of the largest in the city, and a long-held Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
checkpoint. One resident told the Libya Herald that he and his family had endured hours of heavy gunfire and shelling.

No casualties have yet been reported from the festivities and medical and Red Islamic Thingy officials could not be reached by phone, however, there are believed to have been a significant number.

Further fighting has continued elsewhere in the city. Several people are believed to have been killed when shells fell on a funeral gathering in the Majouri district. Photos circulated on social media show a funeral tent and the area surrounding it drenched in blood.

There have also been reports of casualties from fighting on Ashreen Street where local residents are said to be exchanging RPG fire in a related personal battle. One family identified as the Bushwagier family, supporters of the army, have attack a family of Ansar al-Sharia supporters, the Rabia family, after accusing them of abducting a family member. Both have resorted to heavy mortar fire which is said to have hit surrounding buildings

Fighting has also continued in and around Garyounis near Benghazi University which was hit by missiles yesterday. The ongoing festivities predominantly involve 17 February Brigade and Brega Martyrs Brigade
...aligned with BenghaziâsRevolutionary Shura Council and the forces ranged against Operation Dignity. Part of the ramshackle coalition of brigades that opened fire on the Libyan Congress building ecause their chosen prime ministerial candidate Omar Al-Hassi failed to win a vote. on the side of BRSC and the 204 Tank Brigade. Eyewitnesses have reported Arclight airstrikes by pro-government forces on the area.

Both the Libya Red Islamic Thingy and Saiqa Special forces have issued statements about the fighting, asking residents to remain indoors wherever possible as the city witnesses its fiercest festivities in two weeks.

The Red Islamic Thingy has asked the people of Benghazi to stay away from windows, try to stay in central rooms and stay downstairs.

Saiqa has told residents to protect their homes, remain inside and not to impede the work of the national army.

Yemen army clash with protesters, 2 killed
[Xinhua] At least two people were killed and six others injured during festivities between the army and protesters marching towards a military base in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Wednesday, a government official told Xinhua.

"The pro-secession protesters marched toward an army base located near the main protest camp of the separatist movement in Aden's district of Khor Maksar, sparking a short shootout in the area," the local government official said on condition of anonymity.

"About two people were killed during the random shooting and six others injured. Heavy and medium weapons were used in the festivities," the official said.

Another security official said that the army troops around the base dispersed the crowds by firing tear gas only. However,

Bangladesh Jamaat calls 72-hour strike over chief's death penalty
[Xinhua] Bangladesh's largest Islamist party on Wednesday called 72-hour countrywide strike in protest of the court verdict that awarded its chief death penalty for war crimes.

Shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 in capital Dhaka pronounced the verdict on a crime against humanity, awarding death sentence to the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islmai party's Ameer (President) Nizami, it called a countrywide strike from 6:00 a.m. Thursday to 6:00 a.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday.

Jamaat made the announcement in a statement in which it rejected the verdict against Nizami.

In the statement, Jamaat also claimed that the government has filed ill motivated baseless cases against its top leaders in order to make the party leaderless.

"Charges which have been brought against Nizami are totally false, fabricated and politically motivated," it said.

The three-member ICT panel, however, explained the 16 charges leveled against the accused 71-year-old Jamaat chief. The panel read the 204- page verdict at a jam-packed court room in the presence of a huge crowd of people particularly journalists and lawyers amid tightened security measures in and around the tribunal.

Nizami was indicted in 2012 with 16 charges of crimes against humanity, including looting, mass killings, arson, rape and forcefully converting people into Moslems during the war.

Bangla: Nizami sentenced to death for war crimes
[Xinhua] Bangladesh's largest Islamist party chief Motiur Rahman Nizami
...During the liberation war of 1971, Nizami formed the Al-Badr Force and acted as its supreme commander. The Al-Badr militia took active part in rape, extortion, looting and killing of Bangladeshis who supported the liberation, including a pre-planned massacre on December 14, 1971, when the Al-Badr militia along with Pakistan Army rounded up hundreds of doctors, professors, writers, and other Bengali intellectuals, and executed them...
was sentenced to death in capital Dhaka Wednesday for war crimes including mass killings.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 pronounced the verdict Wednesday afternoon on a crime against humanity case, awarding death sentence to the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islmai party's President Nizami, who is now behind the bar.

The three-member panel of the ICT-1 read the summary of the 204- page verdict at a jam-packed court room in the presence of a huge crowd of people particularly journalists and lawyers amid tightened security measures in and around the tribunal.

The panel explained the 16 charges leveled against the accused 71-year-old Jamaat chief.

Nizami was indicted in 2012 with 16 charges of crimes against humanity, including looting, mass killings, arson, rape and forcefully converting people into Moslems during the war.

The indictment order, in a brief profile of the accused, said Nizami was a key organizer of the Al-Badr, an auxiliary force of then Mighty Pak Army which planned and executed the killing of Bangalee intellectuals at the end of the Liberation War in 1971.

After the verdict, International Crimes Tribunal prosecutor Tureen Afroz told news hounds that "eight charges, including murder against Nizami, were proved beyond a reasonable doubt leading to a death sentence to the leader of Jamaat."

Defense lawyer Tajul Islam told journalists that they will file a review petition, challenging the verdict of the ICT.

Five top Jamaat leaders have already been punished for their 1971 crimes and Nizami is among three other top leaders now being tried in war crimes tribunals Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian's Bangladesh Awami League-led government in 2010 to bring the perpetrators of 1971 to book.

Apart from Jamaat high-ups, a few leaders of ex-Prime Minister the loathesome Khaleda Zia
Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ...
's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are also facing trials.

Both BNP and Jamaat have dismissed the court as a government " show trial" and said it is a domestic set-up without the oversight or involvement of the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
.

Moslem-majority Bangladesh was called East Pakistain until 1971. The government of Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina

She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums..
said about 3 million people were killed in the war although independent researchers believed that between 300,000 and 500,000 died.

[AnNahar] A 14-year-old boy in Austria was remanded in jug Wednesday after telling police he planned to plant a bomb in a public area and join jihadists in Syria, authorities said.

The unnamed boy, a Turkish citizen living in Austria for at least the past eight years, had been under investigation since early October and was enjugged

He told detectives he had "informed himself on the Internet... about making unconventional bombs," police in the eastern city of Sankt Poelten said in a statement.

He made "concrete enquirers about buying ingredients" for a bomb and "planned to explode the devices in public places, such as the Vienna Westbahnhof," a major train station.

The boy also wanted to travel to Syria and fight alongside turbans from the Islamic State

A Team of Bumblers?
Long but informative article in Politico. The final paragraphs:
But what might be missing most from the administration—at least according to its critics—is a forceful strategist who is able to push the president (who remains, for the most part, his own No. 1 strategist) to be more decisive. It is not unreasonable to suppose that Rice feels somewhat snake-bit by her long and traumatic public trial over Benghazi, and the difficulties she has long had in her dealings with Capitol Hill. After her TV appearance on Benghazi, she sought to preserve her candidacy for secretary of state with a series of strikingly unsuccessful meetings on Capitol Hill in which she failed to impress even moderate Republicans such as Sen. Susan Collins of Maine. She also found herself facing resistance from foreign-policy elites who questioned her temperament and her record, including her past close relations with African dictators such as Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

Of course, no one knows Obama's thinking on national security better than Rice, who has been with him longer than any senior official in the administration with the exception of McDonough, his chief of staff. And as we've discovered during six-plus years of studying Obama's M.O., that counts for a lot with this president. Keeping America out of any more disastrous wars is his mission, and it may well be that his allegedly bumbling team is doing nothing more than implementing his desires. Whether that is any longer a policy appropriate to the times, given the resilience of ISIL—and whether he's getting the kind of advice he needs to hear, rather than the kind he wants to hear—is another question, one for the pundits to debate.

But as one former senior Pentagon official puts it, "When you select for personal loyalty, that may be all you get."

India-Pakistan
Three suspects remanded in airport attack case
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court remanded on Wednesday three suspects in police custody in the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
airport attack case.

The crime investigation department of police claimed to have nabbed
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
four suspects belonging to Al Qaeda and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain on Tuesday for allegedly providing logistical support, funds and weapons to around 10 attackers, who stormed Karachi airport in June. They were killed in a swift operation by law-enforcement agencies.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
three of them -- Sarmad Siddiqui, Asif Zaheer and Nadeem, alias Burger, alias Mullah -- were produced in court amid tight security.

The investigating officer submitted that the suspects were arrested on Oct 28 and two of them were found carrying unlicensed weapons.

He contended that during initial interrogation the suspects disclosed that they purchased 9mm and CF 98 pistols by using the licence of arms dealer Hameed-ur-Rehman and handed over the weapons to Malik Mumtaz Awan and others.

The IO sought custody of the suspects for further questioning and arrest of their accomplices.

Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of the ATC-I handed over the suspects to the police on physical remand till Nov 10 and asked the IO to produce them with a progress report on next hearing.

The same court had quashed last month 19 cases pertaining to possession of explosive substances and illicit weapons against the 10 slain attackers.

The airport police booked the 10 unidentified turbans in 19 cases under the Explosive Substance Act and the Sindh Arms Act, 2013.

The police submitted reports against the unidentified attackers about the recovery for Kalashnikovs, suicide jackets, automatic rifles, rocket launchers, hand grenades and other explosives and weapons from their possession.

The investigation reports were filed in 10 explosive substances and nine illicit weapons cases and the police asked the court to cancel the cases since all the suspects had been killed. The identity of the slain attackers could not be ascertained, it added.

The main case (87/14) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief casing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage, etc), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 109 (abetment) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code and 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

Nadeem and Asif were also booked under Section 23(1) (a) of the Sindh Arms Act, 2013.

The head of the outlawed TTP, Fazlullah, and the then front man Shahidullah Shahid were also named in the main case.

It may be recalled that the arrest of some suspects was reported by a section of the media on Sept 10 in Nawabshah, where the attackers had reportedly purchased and activated their subscriber's identification modules (SIMs).

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
they were not brought to the courts.

He said the suspect identified as Amjad Hussain, a resident of Fatehjang, was arrested. A case has been registered against the accused who has confessed to smuggling arms and ammunition from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

Eight soldiers, 21 suspected militants killed in Khyber operation
[DAWN] At least 21 suspected bad boyz were potted while several others injured during a major clearance operation in Spin Qamar area of Khyber Agency, Pakistain military claimed on Wednesday.

"Eight soldiers embraced shahdat (martyrdom) during fierce fighting and exchange of fire with terrorists," said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

This is second phase of Khyber operation named as Khyber-II.

In a separate incident, two members of a peace committee have been injured in Gomal Zam area. One of them is stated to be at death's door.

The information, however, could not be verified independently as access for journalists is restricted in the area.

Earlier in the day, DG ISPR Maj Gen Asim Bajwa told news hounds that more than 1,100 bad boyz were potted during Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
and 44 others during Khyber-I operation. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
he once again declined to give a timeframe for the end of the operations underway in North Wazoo and Khyber, saying these would continue in the two tribal regions until the areas were cleared.

Khyber is among Pakistain's seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, rife with homegrown murderous Moslems and foreign Lion of Islams. These are also home to religious Lion of Islam organizations including Al Qaeda.

The plains of Bara hold strategic significance for Lion of Islam groups as they connect the agency to the outskirts of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Indian troops kill 2 militants in Indian-controlled Kashmir gunfight
[Xinhua] Two bandidos holy warriors were killed Wednesday in the second day of shootout with Indian troops, taking the corpse count to four including a junior military officer, officials said.

The shootout broke out early Tuesday in Waderbala forest area near village Petta of Handwara town in frontier Kupwara district, about 95 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmire.

"Two more bandidos holy warriors were killed in an ongoing shootout today," a police front man said. "The shootout was carried out on specific intelligence inputs suggesting presence of the bandidos holy warriors in the forest area."

On Tuesday a turban and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) was killed in the shootout.

The slain JCO has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, while as the identity of slain bandidos holy warriors was being ascertained.

Indian authorities have announced dates of local election in the restive region. The five-phase staggered polls would begin from Nov. 25 and would end on Dec. 20.

The region's Director General of Police K Rajendra said 520 additional companies of India's paramilitary troops would arrive within a few days to strengthen the security grid during the upcoming elections.

Militants challenging New Delhi's rule in the restive region have been fighting a guerrilla war since 1989 with Indian troops stationed in Indian-controlled Kashmire. The shootout between the two sides takes place intermittently.

Last year saw a 38 percent increase in violence compared to 2012. The violence claimed 204 lives in restive Indian-controlled Kashmire. Of the 204 killed, 48 were civilians, 73 suspected turbans, one unidentified and 82 Indian troopers, a report compiled by a rights group said.

Muthanna chemical weapons facility liberated from ISIS control
[Iraq News] Baghdad Operations Command confirmed that the armored force of the 9th Division and a regiment of the Federal Police managed to free the Muthanna chemical weapons facility from ISIS control. The facility is located on the Samarra/Al-Therthar road which lies about 60 km away from Baghdad.

On Tuesday, the commander of the Baghdad Operations Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari said in a press statement, followed by IraqiNews.com, that his forces will begin clearing the road of explosives, noting that "opening the Samarra/Jabber road will only lead to breaking the cordon around the unites located in the Japanese bridge and Al-Therthar road."

The United States has already expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
about ISIS' seizure of Muthanna chemical weapons facility after the 10th June events, but the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
underestimated the chemicals contained therein stressing that "it does not represent danger or security threat."

IS militants execute 30 tribesmen in Iraq, troops pressure on extremists
[Xinhua] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) Death Eater group executed more than 30 rustics in western Iraq on Wednesday, as government forces continue their offensive against the holy warrior bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams across the country, security sources said.

Hit
The Islamic State, an al-Qaeda offshoot, captured more than 40 rustics from the Sunni tribe of Albu Nimer in the Death Eater seized town of Heet, some 160 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, and executed their detainees accusing them of collaborating with the security forces against IS Death Eaters, a provincial security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Most of the killed rustics were shot in the head in front of dozens of residents who were forced to witness the executions, the source said.

Security forces and their allied Sunni rustics have been battling the holy warrior Sunni bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams in fierce festivities since mid- October. They managed to keep hold of parts of Heet, preventing it from falling into the hands of IS bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams who have taken control of around 80 percent of the town. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
the government forces held their last positions in the town for only ten days due to the lack of reinforcement troops and an ammunition shortage.

More than 1,000 heavily-armed rustics and some troops left the town in around 500 vehicles to take refuge in the nearby town of Barwana, which is still under the control of the Iraqi forces. Some government-allied rustics ceased fighting and returned to the town, while others apparently were captured by IS Death Eaters.

The IS group has seized around 80 percent of Iraq's largest province of Anbar and is trying to advance toward Baghdad, but several counter attacks by the security forces and Shiite militias have pushed them away from areas west of the capital, which contains a large Shiite population and is heavily fortified by security forces and Shiite militias.

Fallujah-Samarra Road
Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie ducked another tomato...
troops have managed to secure the main road between the Death Eater-seized city of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
about 50 km west of Baghdad, and Samarra, after festivities with IS Death Eaters, the source said without giving further details about casualties.

Abu Ghraib
Near Baghdad, the security forces, backed by Shiite bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams and aircraft, took control of the areas of Duwyliebah and Rufoush in Abu Ghraib area, just west of the capital, after days of festivities with IS Death Eaters.

The festivities left some 72 bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams dead and destroyed several vehicles. Government operatives defused more than 300 roadside kabooms and 13 booby-trapped buildings, the Baghdad Operation Command said in a statement.

Since December last year, Lion of Islam attacks have continued in the Sunni Arab heartland west of Baghdad that stretches through Anbar province, which has been the scene of fierce festivities that flared up after Iraqi police dismantled an anti-government protest site outside the city of Ramadi.

Salahudin
In Salahudin province, Iraqi security forces continued their advance toward the Death Eater-seized town of Baiji, a provincial security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The troops recaptured the villages of Hajaj and Albu Tu'ma, after killing dozens of IS bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams and defusing more than 115 roadside kabooms, the source said.

Diyala
In Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, security forces and Shiite bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams took control of a major base belonging to IS bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams in the mountainous area of Himreen, after intense festivities that left 37 bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams dead, some of whom were wearing explosive vests, the provincial police chief told Xinhua.

Sudour Dam
Separately, an officer and three security members were killed and eight others maimed in festivities with IS bandidos bandidos Lion of Islams near the Sudour Dam, some 110 km northeast of Baghdad, the police chief said.

The security in Iraq situation began to drastically deteriorate on June 10, when bloody festivities broke out between the Iraqi security forces and the Islamic State following the Death Eater group 's capture of the country's northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and later seizure of swathes of territories, prompting Iraqi forces to abandon their posts in Nineveh and other predominantly Sunni provinces.

Israel Closes Temple Mount To Muslims, Jews Following Jerusalem Shooting
[IsraelTimes] Israel decided Wednesday night to prohibit access to the Temple Mount Thursday to both Moslems and Jews until further notice, following the shooting in Jerusalem of Rabbi Yehudah Glick, a right-wing activist with the Temple Mount Faithful.

Jerusalem District Police Commander Moshe Edri together with Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch assessed intelligence reports on the ground, according to a police front man, and issued a directive barring Moslem and Jewish worshipers from accessing the holy site.

Right-wing activists, including some members of Knesset, had called to march on the Temple Mount en masse Thursday morning in response to the suspected attempted liquidation which left Glick in serious, but stable, condition.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for an increased police presence in Jerusalem, as security forces were on high alert across the country.

"We are all praying for Yehudah's well-being," said Netanyahu.

Glick was shot three times outside the Jerusalem's Begin Center following a conference about the Jewish presence on the Temple Mount. Police were still searching for the unidentified assailant who was wearing a helmet and was said to have expeditiously departed at a goodly pace on a cycle of violence.

Glick had finished a speech at a conference at the Begin Center, entitled "Israel returns to the Temple Mount." Eyewitnesses said that after the event, a man with an Arabic accent approached Glick and asked him for his identity. The man then shot the victim, got on the cycle of violence and fled, suggesting this was possibly an liquidation attempt on Glick specifically.

Moriah Halamish, who was at the conference, described the suspected gunman.

"When the conference ended, we went outside. No one was there except a man with dark skin, dressed in black, waiting by a cycle of violence. He approached Yehudah and addressed him, telling him 'Yehudah, I'm sorry, you've made me angry,' before firing [his weapon]. He spoke with a clear Arabic accent," she said.

Channel 2 reported Wednesday night following the incident that Glick had turned to police at least five times recently to complain about threats to his life.

A message on a jihadist Paleostinian website about the conference he attended prior to the shooting, which included details on the time, location and attendees, was being looked into by police, Channel 2 reported. The post also called on Paleostinians to prevent the meeting, according to the report.

Glick's father, Professor Shimon Glick, said his family was worried for his son's well-being after he received death threats for his Temple Mount activities. "I was very worried. My wife was very worried," he told Channel 2.

"Unfortunately, he didn't receive proper protection. He showed me on Facebook the threats against him. I knew this would happen and asked him to stop his activities," he told Ynet.

Glick was hospitalized at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, doctors said. Dr. Ofer Naim, the head of the hospital's trauma unit, said Glick was in the final stages of surgery to save his life and will need an additional operation on Thursday. Naim described bullet wounds to the stomach and lungs and said his life remained in danger.

Likud MK Moshe Feiglin, who was at the event, said the incident was "terrible but quite expected," Ynet reported.

"Yehudah Glick was threatened all the time. The fact that permanent security was not assigned to him is a failure," he said.

Feiglin also said he would go up to the Temple Mount on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.

Fellow right-wing MK Miri Regev was also at the event.

Housing Minister Uri Ariel, a proponent of a Jewish presence in east Jerusalem, said that the bullets fired at Glick "were aimed at all Jews who wish to pray on the Temple Mount," i24 news reported. He also demanded open Jewish access to the site in response.

Paleostinians in the Old City of Jerusalem set off fireworks in celebration.

Several dozen Israelis demonstrated outside the Begin Center Wednesday night, wrapping themselves in Israeli flags and calling on police to "eliminate terror."

US-born Yehudah Glick, a resident of the West Bank settlement of Othniel, near Hebron, previously worked as the executive director of the Temple Institute, an organization that prepares vessels and garments for a future Jewish temple, before joining the Temple Mount Faithful.

Glick was locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
last October, and barred by police from the Temple Mount, according to the Forward. The decision was reversed after a 12-day hunger strike.

"I believe that the Temple Mount represents a place that has potential for being an international center for religious tolerance," he told the Forward.

The circumstances of the incident remained unclear, but the prevailing suspicion is that the attempted murder was politically motivated.

The shooting came amid weeks of rising tensions between Israelis and Paleostinians in Jerusalem. Last week a Paleostinian man drove a car into a crowded train platform located along the seam separating East and West Jerusalem, killing two. In the days following, Paleostinians have clashed continuously with Israeli police in Arab neighborhoods of the capital. Israel responded to the rise in violence by increasing its police presence, deploying an additional 1,000 officers to the city.

The shooting took place as diplomats convened a UN Security Council meeting to discuss the growing tensions in Jerusalem.

Israel Revokes Palestinian General's VIP Pass
[IsraelTimes] In a rare move, Israel revoked on Tuesday the VIP pass of a senior Paleostinian Authority official after he compared Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
General Adnan al-Damiri, front man for the Paleostinian Authority's security services, made the remarks during a presser in the wake of last week's terror attack in which a Paleostinian driver killed two people waiting for a train.

He also said that "Israeli racism toward the Paleostinian nation is more serious and dangerous than the Islamic State," and that Israel is the "Jewish Islamic State," the Haaretz daily reported.

The VIP pass allowed Damiri to move more quickly through the West Bank, and to enter Israel proper more easily.

Israel generally refrains from using the measure against Paleostinian officials, but felt his statements bordered on incitement to violence. Moreover, Damiri had ignored repeated warnings about his statements against Israel and its leaders.

Speaking to Haaretz Tuesday, Damiri remained defiant. "Netanyahu is supporting the most extreme in Israel, and they are leading to escalation, incitement, and religious conflict. I spoke based on facts. It is responsible for the killing of nine Paleostinian children [in the West Bank] since the beginning of the year, it destroys homes of Paleostinians who weren't tried, but doesn't destroy the homes of the killers of the child Muhammad Abu Khdeir. Netanyahu's decision proves that this is a weak government that cannot deal with statements in the media by a Paleostinian bureaucrat whose job is to talk to the media."

In June, after three Israeli teens were kidnapped, Damiri described Netanyahu's comments, in which he held Abbas accountable for the act, as "mad." In September, he accused Israel of "carrying out operations to kill and destroy houses," after IDF soldiers killed the three teens' kidnappers.

Israel revoked the VIP pass of two senior PA officials, Jibril Rajoub and Nabil Sha'ath, in 2012, for their incitement against Israel.

MILF members linked to BIFF attacks
Police are trying to verify reports that some members of the former militant group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) may have been involved in recent attacks by jihadist Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Sultan Kudarat province. Police have relayed this information to members of the International Monitoring Team which is overseeing the cease-fire deal between the MILF and the Aquino government.

The BIFF, a group that splintered off from the MILF, attacked military and civilian targets in President Quirino town and nearby areas. A recent attack there killed a civilian and injured two more.

Philippine army kills two commies in fresh Davao clashes
Philippine troops killed two communist militants in a clash Wednesday in the southern province of Davao del Norte.

Capt. Alberto Caber said the fighting broke out in Gupitan village of Kapalong town. He said troops were sent to hunt down New People's Army members when they encountered some and a firefight ensued. He said the fighting lasted almost an hour and stopped after the militants broke up into smaller groups and headed for the hills.

Caber said, "There was no casualty on our side and the pursuit operations still continue."

The fighting was the second in the remote village since Sunday when two militants were also killed by soldiers.

IS captures 3 gas wells in Syria's Homs
[Xinhua] The Islamic State (IS) militants on Tuesday captured three gas wells in Syria's central province of Homs, the pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported.

The IS captured the gas wells east of Palmyra in Homs after intense clashes with the Syrian troops, said the report, spelling no further details.

The captured wells were close to the al-Shaer natural gas field, which was captured by the IS on July 17, but it was recaptured by the Syrian troops on July 26 following a counter-offensive the Syrian troops unleashed to wrest back control over that key gas field.

The IS, previously known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, has self-proclaimed an Islamic Caliphate in areas striding Syria and Iraq. It has also succeeded in capturing almost of the oil fields in the oil-rich province of Deir al-Zour in eastern Syria on the borders with Iraq.

Separately, the Syrian troops recaptured the town of Hosh Fara in the eastern countryside of the capital Damascus and tightened its siege on the town of Maida in the same area, according to the state news agency SANA.

The Syrian troops have been on a wide-scale offensive against the rebels' positions in the sprawling eastern countryside of Damascus, capturing a number of key areas and pushing forward into the strongholds of the armed militant groups.

Powerful blast rocks Syria's Homs, casualties feared
[Xinhua] A powerful blast rocked a pro- government district in Syria's central province of Homs Wednesday, leaving unknown number of casualties, the Syrian national television reported.

The blast, carried out by a booby-trapped vehicle, rocked the pro-government district of Zahra in Homs, said the report, spelling no further details.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Senate, Odius Sepulcher called for war against the Visigoths...
the TV aired footage of the blast site, showing scenes of destruction and casualties.

Several kabooms have previously rocked Zahra, which is inhabited by people of the Alawite minority, to whom the ruling elite in Syria belongs.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
the oppositional Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based Syrian monitoring group, said two people were killed and 12 others were maimed Wednesday by the government troops shelling on the rebel-held area of al-Rastan in the countryside of Homs.

The long-running crisis in Syria has taken a sectarian turn, pitting the Sunni snuffies against other government-loyal minority groups.

Reinforcements Enter Kobani via Turkey, Raising Hopes
[NY Times] As the first contingents of Iraqi Kurdish soldiers and Syrian rebel fighters crossed through Turkey to enter the beleaguered Syrian town of Kobani on Wednesday, officials in Kobani hailed their arrival, saying they hoped it heralded a more cooperative international effort to fight Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. rebels, followed by about 150 Iraqi Kurdish pesh merga fighters bearing badly needed arms and ammunition.

But the reinforcements were the first Turkey had allowed to cross through into Syria after weeks of tense diplomacy. And Syrian Kurdish officials in Kobani expressed hope that it meant Turkey and the United States were beginning to resolve their differences over how to fight the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.
