#1  Attention JohnQC:

You submitted a piece entitled "Are We Really Serious About a War on Terror?".

Is this an original opinion piece of your own, or did you find it somewhere? If the latter, we need the URL. if the former, we'll give you the byline, so that everyone one knows.

Thanks muchly,

#2  Thanks TW for asking. I almost missed your comment here. The piece expressed skepticism about our the paucity of efforts in Syria and Iraq with regards to the WOT. What is going on just seems to be minuscule compared to what is needed. Our efforts seem to be mostly political; seems as if Donks said to Obama, we are going to lose the midterm elections unless you do something.

Please don't post the article as I posted the article as comments under another article posted today entitled: Time to widen scope of anti-IS operation.

#1  Hmm. The Persians have tipped their hand as to why they really want to be in northeastern Iraq 'helping' the fight against ISIL/ISIS/AQI/whatever.

They never did like the Kurds and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

Might as well go in, see their defenses and infrastructure while 'helping' and then eradicate these 'infidels', too.

The Persians play chess pretty well.

#2  One more reason that I was never comfortable with this "arrangement" of Zero.

Once he pulled out of Iraq I was pretty sure that the whole place was going to go boom in some way and that I wasn't going to want any part of it.

From his Libyan adventure to his red line in Syria to all of this crap we've been screwed by our own regime.

Egypt Forces Kill Four Jihadists in Sinai
[AnNahar] Egyptian security forces on Tuesday killed four fighters from the country's deadliest murderous Moslem group on the Sinai Peninsula, where troops regularly battle jihadists, officials said.

The four jihadists from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (Partisans of Jerusalem) were killed when the car they were travelling in was struck by artillery fire south of the town of Sheikh Zuweid, the security officials said.

Eight other members of the group were jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in separate raids in the towns of Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has orchestrated a string of attacks targeting security forces to avenge a deadly government crackdown on supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.

The group claimed two bombing on the Sinai that killed 17 coppers this month, and said it was behind the beheading in August four Sinai residents it accused of being "Israeli informants" who helped target and kill its members.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis used to launch rocket attacks against Israel, but since Morsi's ouster in July 2013 it has claimed deadly attacks in the Sinai, the Nile Delta and in Cairo.

It also recently expressed support for the Lion of Islam Islamic State

Six killed in battles between Derna's rival Islamists
[Libya Herald] At least six members of Derna's rival Islamist brigades were killed in fighting on Sunday as tensions flared between the town's Abu Saleem Martyrs' Brigade and the Islamic Youth in Derna.

The town today appears to have returned to what has become normality there for more than a year. Over the past twelve months its radical Islamist brigades have closed the local council, taken control of the court building and liquidated whatever remnants of the town's security forces remained.

Four members of Abu Saleem Martyrs' brigade, one Islamic Youth in Derna militiaman along with a civilian perished in the festivities which began on Sunday evening and continued into the early hours of yesterday the morning, Bowabat Al-Wasat reported.

Those killed from the Martys' Brigade were identified as Mustafa Salim Sayegh, Saleh Attia Erhim, Salem Attia Erhim and Maher Al-Masmari. Masmari was critically injured in the fighting on Sunday and later died in hospital from his wounds. Saad Tagouris was Islamic Youth's only reported dead.

The civilian, whose name has not yet emerged, was apparently killed outside Derna Hospital when shots were fired into a crowd which had gathered there.

The Islamic Youth in Derna rose to prominence in the town in early April, as a result of the amalgamation of three radical Islamist groups in the area including the Army of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Libya. The establishment of Islamic Youth started a power-struggle with rivals.

It has since carried out two separate public executions in the Derna, for which it has gained notoriety, though not control, since the Abu Saleem Martyrs' brigade is still seen to hold the balance of power in the town.

Operation Dignity, which has said it is intent on fighting terrorism, wherever it may be in Libya, has said that during Sunday's festivities it carried out Arclight airstrikes on ships attempting to enter Derna's port. On a number of occasions the forces loyal to General Khalifa Hafter have launched Arclight airstrikes on vessels believed to be carrying weapons and ammunition into the town.

Benghazi violence: assassinations and lawlessness as Benina clashes continue
[Libya Herald] Violence has continued in Benghazi in the aftermath of Friday's unprecedented wave of murders with the killing of a a holy man and an activist.

Local activist Ali Al-Misrati was shot and killed by unknown assailants outside Shebna Mosque yesterday. He was taken to Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) where he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!
on arrival. The city is still reeling from the deaths of 18-year-old blogger and activist Tawfiq Bensaud and his 17-year-old friend Sami Al-Kwafi, also an activist, who were killed along with eight others on Friday.

Sheikh Salim Bayu, a Salafist imam at the Saud Bin Zama Mosque was shot and killed in Hay Salem as he left Isha prayers last night. A colleague of Bayu was also caught up in the attack. He is receiving treatment at BMC and said to be in a critical condition. Religious leaders, particularly Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
, have been targeted in liquidations in recent months.

Head of Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
Investigations Unit Fadel Al-Hassi told the Libya Herald that kidnappings and liquidations in Benghazi had reached "unbelievably dangerous levels". He said that assassins were able to carry out attacks with complete impunity and that residents needed to be wary of fake checkpoints which have been used by gunnies as a pretext to stop and then kill their targets.

He warned that individuals should not risk being out of their homes after dark.

In a sign of the increasing lawlessness in Benghazi, LD 132,000 was robbed today from the Commerce and Development Bank branch in Hadaiq district. Local residents reported that masked gunnies had entered the bank, cajoling customers with their weapons before making off with the cash.

Fighting in the hotspots of Buatni and Gwarsha, the source of much of the city's instability, has continued in recent days. The festivities, which erupted in Buatni at the end of Ramadan, appear to have reached a stalemate with neither Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
nor Operation Dignity able to take the upper hand.

Despite several attempts by Ansar and its allies to take hold of Benina Airport and a nearby air defence base, they have been repulsed each time. Now the Islamist group seems more intent on destroying the Benina, firing long-range grad missiles and mortars towards it.

Operation Dignity responds to the attacks with Arclight airstrikes on Ansar's positions in Buatni and Gwarsha, as local residents look on.

Boko Haram: Shekau is alive and well - Negotiator, Salkida
[DAILYPOST.NG] Nigerian Journalist and a close associate of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, Ahmad Salkida has faulted the viral claims that one of the sect members killed in a recent battle between the sect and the Nigerian Army was the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Salkida, on his twitter handle tweeted that the photo being circulated was in no way Shekau, as he had it on good authority that the sect leader was well and alive.

He tweeted thus: '' Mark my words; I have it on good authority that Shekau is well and alive. The picture going round is NOT the person who torments us with this group. ''

With this latest tweet from Salkida who is believed to have good relationship with Shekau, the claims by both Nigeria and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
ian Army have clearly been put to doubt.

DailyPost recalls that Cameroonian Army had on Sunday released some photos of the man it purportedly killed during a cross boarder attack, claiming victory over the sect. Relatively, Nigerian Army had said it would carry out a DNA test to determine whether the sect leader purportedly killed by its men was the real Abubakar Shekau, and as well claiming a landslide victory over sect.

Ahmed Salkida's position has further complicated the controversy surrounding the killing of the sect leader as Nigeria and Cameroon authority have continued to disagree over who killed Shekau.

Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian journalist who now resides in Dubai had previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram. He fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being fingered as Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered '

Salkida is the only Nigerian journalist/civilian that allegedly has access to Boko Haram.

Photo prompts speculation Nigeria's Boko Haram leader killed in battle
[FOXNEWS] A grainy and gruesome photo has fueled speculation that the infamous leader of the Nigerian terror group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
is dead, even as the African nation's army presses fighters in the northern territory and the fate of hundreds of hostages hangs in the balance.

The military in neighboring Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
claims to have killed Abubakar Shekau, the warlord seen earlier this year in a monstrous video vowing to sell nearly 300 kidnapped schoolgirls, and even released a photo purportedly of his corpse. Nigerian security forces are trying to authenticate the report, and officials in the U.S., which has aided Nigeria's hunt for Shekau, declined to comment when asked by Fox News if they are checking into the validity of the image.

"We are aware of the reports, but can't confirm anything at this time," a U.S. State department official said.

There is no question that the man shown in the photo released by Cameroon bears a strong resemblance to Shekau, but the terror leader reportedly uses body doubles to confound his enemies. The recent report is not the first time that Shekau was claimed to have been killed, although the statement from Cameroon, which has been battling Boko Haram at the border, and the photo, make this instance more compelling than others.

Cameroon officials say Shekau was killed in battle near the northeastern city of Konduga. According to Bloomberg.com, the Nigerian Armed Forces tweeted out a posting claiming that more than 60 Boko Haram Death Eaters were killed in the battle and that a big shot had been captured.

Military officials in the region had claimed last year that Shekau was killed in a battle on June 30. He later appeared in a video sent to media outlets to prove that he was still alive.

Houthi rebels cry 'victory' as Hadi warns of civil war
[ARABNEWS] President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi warned Tuesday of "civil war" in Sunni-majority Yemen and vowed to restore state authority as Iranian catspaws in apparent near-total control of Sanaa hailed their "victory."

Yemen "is facing a conspiracy" and "the danger of slipping into civil war," Hadi said in a speech at the presidential palace, two days after Ansarullah rebels took all other key state institutions in the capital, overshadowing a UN-brokered peace deal.

In a televised speech, rebel leader Abdelmalik Al-Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to Americaâtm¢, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
hailed what he called the "victory" of his fighters.

"We congratulate our people on the victory of their popular revolution that has established a new era based on cooperation," Houthi said.

Hadi had earlier evoked the specter of foreign plots aimed at torpedoing progress in Yemen.

"Internal and foreign forces (have) allied to... overthrow the Yemeni model" of power transition following an Arab Spring-inspired uprising, the president said.

Yemen was the only Arab Spring country where an uprising led to a political settlement by which Hadi replaced former autocrat President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
Hundreds of rebels manned checkpoints on the airport road and other major thoroughfares on Tuesday while heavily armed patrols cruised the streets in four-wheel-drive vehicles, AFP correspondents reported.

Insurgents alongside small detachments of military police guarded public offices the rebels entered on Sunday, including the main government building, parliament, army headquarters and the central bank.

But Hadi insisted: "Sanaa will not fall."

UN envoy Jamal Benomar, who mediated the accord aimed at ending deadly fighting between the rebels and Sunnis, said the rebels' taking of key institutions virtually without resistance seemed to signify the "collapse" of the security forces in Sanaa.
Why yes, rebel control of everything would indeed suggest that the security forces have skedaddled...
"What has happened these past few days could lead to the collapse of the Yemeni state and the end of the political transition," he told Al-Arabiya television late Monday.

As Benomar spoke, the peace accord appeared to be holding after a week of festivities that the government said killed at least 200 people.

The speed of the rebel advance reflected the fragility of Yemen's regime three years after the uprising.

"You were shocked to learn that public and military institutions were handed over (to rebels), but be aware that the plot was already brewing," Hadi told Yemenis Tuesday.

"There is no doubt that Saleh has facilitated Houthi expansion in and around the capital," April Longley Alley, a specialist on Yemen with the International Crisis Group, told AFP.

"At the very least he has not discouraged his tribal and political supporters from supporting Houthi mobilization."

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
"the extent of his involvement is unclear," she told AFP.

Under Sunday's deal, Hadi had three days to bring a rebel representative into government as an adviser and to name a neutral replacement for prime minister Mohammed Basindawa.

German Raids Target Seven Alleged IS Supporters
[AnNahar] German police on Tuesday raided the homes of seven people on suspicion they supported the jihadist group Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (IS) fighting in Syria and Iraq, authorities said.

They were suspected of having planned a "serious subversive act of violence", said Bavaria state's interior and justice ministers in a statement.

The raids were based on information that an ambulance vehicle financed through fundraising events in Germany was taken to Syria and turned into an improvised military personnel carrier with a mounted semi-automatic gun.

Other off-road vehicles were also taken to the combat zone, where IS jihadists have swept across a large area of war-torn Syria and Iraq in recent months, they said.

No arrests were made, but evidence including computer hard drives were seized when police raided the homes of five suspects in Bavaria and others in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia states, they said.

Berlin this month formally outlawed active support for the IS group, including recruiting fighters and social media propaganda.

Security agencies estimate that 400 German citizens have been or are fighting with the jihadists in Syria and Iraq.

On September 15, alleged IS fighter Kreshnik Berisha, 20, went on trial charged with membership of a foreign terrorist organization.

Four days later prosecutors brought formal charges against suspects identified only as Karolina M., 25, and Jennifer Vincenza M. and Ahmed-Sadiq M., both 22, accused of sending money and camera equipment to help IS make propaganda videos.

And on Monday this week police said they had tossed in the clink
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
an unidentified Turkish man in Berlin suspected of having received arms and explosives training and having fought with IS.

at a Gay Paree airport Tuesday on suspicion of having joined jihadists in Syria.

The man -- the husband of Merah's sister Souad, who herself is believed to be in Algeria -- was detained at Orly airport near Gay Paree along with two other people, interior ministry sources said.

All three were arrested in Turkey at the end of August and handed over to French authorities, the sources added.

The arrests came just a day after the radical Islamic State

group, which controls large areas of Iraq and Syria, called on Moslems to kill citizens of countries taking part in the U.S.-led coalition against the jihadists, which includes La Belle France.

French authorities are particularly wary about nationals who have traveled to the two restive countries to wage jihad and may return to their home country to stage attacks.

Already in May, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve had warned that Souad Merah, the sister of the gunman who killed three French soldiers and four Jews -- including three children -- in March 2012 in the southwestern city of Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
, had left La Belle France and may be fighting in Syria.

Mohammed Merah himself died after being shot by police following a prolonged stand-off at the apartment block where he lived.

It later emerged that he had visited Pakistain and Afghanistan prior to his attacks and had been on the radar of French intelligence, who had gravely underestimated the threat he posed.

His sister Souad left Toulouse in May for Barcelona, from where she took a flight to Istanbul and then another plane for the Turkish city of Gaziantep, near the Syrian border.

According to a source close to the case, she is currently in Algeria after having left Syria.

Among the two others who were held Tuesday was a 27-year-old man who had already been arrested in 2007 for being part of a network that recruited candidates for jihad in Iraq, an intelligence source said.

The third was a resident in the southern city of Albi where another jihadist network was dismantled over the summer.

According to Cazeneuve, around 930 French citizens or residents, including at least 60 women, are either actively engaged in jihad in Iraq and Syria or are planning to go.

Turkey to do anything possible to fight IS - Erdogan
Turkey will do anything possible to fight against the terrorists of Islamic state , said the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Haber7 channel reported Sept.23.

Bombing terrorists is not the complete fight, Erdogan said, adding that fight against IS should be carried out both in Syria and Iraq.
Any time you want to put ground forces into Syria, go right ahead...
On September 19, Turkey opened its borders to Syrian refugees who fled their homes under threat of the IS. Earlier over 130,000 Syrian refugees entered Turkey.

#2  I believe there are but two US bases in Turkey. The Izmir Air Base located 200 miles from Istanbul which appears to be active only infrequently, and the Incirlik Air Base which has been home to the US, Turkish British Air Forces. The base is strategically located north of the brder with Syria and 35 miles from the Mediterranean. It has been rumored for months that the US presence at Incirlik has been diminished (and the drone operations moved). In any case, to demonstrate good faith with the Kurds, and spit in Turkey and its Muslim Brother president's eye, the US base should be moved to the large complex at Irbil, Kurdistan.

[ARABNEWS] A US court sentenced the late Osama bin Laden

's son-in-law and former Al-Qaeda front man Sulaiman Abu Ghaith to life in prison on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old Kuwaiti, who has defended the September 11, 2001 attacks, was found guilty on March 26 of plotting to kill Americans and providing material support to terrorists.

Before the sentence was handed down in a US federal courtroom, Abu Ghaith spoke in Arabic through a translator to say the only judgment he would accept was that of Allah.

"Today when you are shackling my hands, and intend to bury me alive, you are unleashing the hands of thousands of Moslems and they will join the rally of free men," he said.

Judge Lewis Kaplan said Abu Ghaith failed to show remorse for the September 11 attacks and told the courtroom he remained a menace.

"You continue to threaten," Kaplan said. "What you have done warrants the maximum sentence."

Abu Ghaith is the highest ranking Al-Qaeda leader ever held in a prison on US soil.

Air strikes kill 19 suspected terrorists in North Waziristan
[DAWN] At least 19 suspected bad boyz were potted on Tuesday in precise aerial strikes on terrorist hideouts in Dandi Kachkol near the areas of Ghulam Khan, Gurbaz and Mana near Pasht Ziarat in North Wazoo Agency, said a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). However,

The Taliban and their ethnic Uzbek allies both grabbed credit for the attack on Karachi airport, which was seen as a strategic turning point in how Pakistain tackles the insurgency.

Nearly a million people have fled the offensive in North Waziristan, which is aimed at wiping out longstanding bad boy strongholds in the area, which borders Afghanistan.

North Waziristan has been isolated by deploying troops along its border with neighbouring agencies and Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (Fata) regions to block any move of Lions of Islam in and out of the Agency.

Muhammad Irshad, a levies official told Dawn.com by telephone that local residents spotted two bodies in Pidark area of Turbat. "The bodies are yet to be identified", he said.

The official said a levies team was sent to shift the bodies to Civil Hospital Turbat for identification. "Both victims have received multiple bullets", Irshad said while quoting local people of the area.

Recovery of the bodies has come a day after three other bodies were found in Wadh Tehsil of Khuzdar district, where two of the victims had been identified.

According to our sources in Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department, more than 50 bodies were recovered in Quetta and other towns of Balochistan during this year.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
Baloch nationalists contradict the official figure and claim that the number of bodies was more than what was being quoted by the home department.

Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Malik Baloch has repeatedly stated that recovery of missing persons and an end to recovery of bodies was one of his government's top priorities.

Ahmadi man killed in Mirpurkhas
[DAWN] Gunmen in Mirpurkhas's Mali Colony area rubbed out a doctor from the Ahmadi community, police and members of the community said Tuesday, in the latest attack on one of the country's most persecuted groups.

The assailants stormed Mubashar Ahmad Khosa's clinic on Monday evening.

"He was attending to patients at his clinic when two unknown assailants came in and fired at him repeatedly before fleeing on a cycle of violence," a statement by a local community group said.

Zafarullah Dharejo, a senior police official, added that a third attacker kept watch outside.

Khosa, who was a well-known in the area, departed this vale of tears on his way to hospital.

Dharejo said, "The doctor got a text message half an hour before the murder asking him to come out of his clinic."

Locals of Mali Colony told Dawn that Khosa was a resident of Satellite Town and has been working in their area for a long time.

Khosa's body was taken to Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas for postmortem. However,

Top Iraqi generals retired after huge loss to IS militants
[ARABNEWS] Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi retired two senior generals on Tuesday as part of an overhaul of the country's armed forces, which collapsed this summer in the face of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. Lion of Islams.

The two commanders had been close allies of Abadi's predecessor, Nuri Al-Maliki, a Shi'ite widely blamed for sectarian rule.

Abadi's decision to remove the two generals followed an Islamic State assault on an Iraqi army base in Saqlawiya in western Anbar province on the weekend. A senior Iraqi security official said the attack left 400 to 600 soldiers dead or captured.

Iraqi soldiers described on Monday how Islamic State fighters inflicted heavy losses in a chaotic raid on a military base just an hour's drive from Baghdad, highlighting the fighters' ability to attack high-profile targets despite US air strikes.

A statement from Al-Abadi's office said he had issued orders to detain two commanders for "negligence" in the incidents 50 km west of Baghdad, while some troops who escaped accused the military leadership of failing to help them during the siege.

Their raid at Saqlawiya is the latest since the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
fell to Islamic State in June to exposes the Iraqi military's shortcomings. It followed a massacre of an army detachment at Camp Speicher in the same month, in which military recruits were led off the base unarmed and murdered in their hundreds.

One officer who survived the raid said that of an estimated 1,000 soldiers in Saqlawiya, only about 200 had managed to flee.

"This failure is not the fault of the soldiers ... the mistake was that of the military leadership, they failed," said the officer, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the issue.

The officer said that Islamic State gunnies had gained control of Sijir, near Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
a week ago, allowing them to surround the Saqlawiya base.

"We were without ammunition and without food. Every time we contacted military commanders, they promised to send helicopters to air drop reinforcements but nothing happened," said the officer, who fled to another base close to Fallujah on Sunday. "We ... were drinking salty well water and eating canned tomato paste."

The government statement quoted the front man of the armed forces general command as saying that orders had been issued four days ago for supplies and military reinforcements to be sent to Saqlawiya and Sijir, in addition to intensifying overflights.

On Wednesday, the gunnies sent a Humvee vehicle rigged with explosives into the camp. Guards mistakenly assumed that an army driver was at the wheel.

"When it went kaboom!, it caused a lot of confusion. Islamic State exploited that and entered the camp. Now most of regiment headquarters within the base are under the control of Islamic State," said the officer, adding that one, small army unit remained besieged in the camp.

About 200 soldiers managed to escape the base on Sunday after battling with the holy warriors in the area which soldiers call the "kilometer of death."

"On the road, the images were tragic. Burnt Humvees and burnt corpses of soldiers are still on the streets," said the officer who retreated to the nearby Camp Tareq.

One soldier, identified as a Saqlawiya camp survivor, recounted his testimony in a video that was shown on Iraqi state television

[Ynet] Full details: It took months of work, but Israel finally tracked down the two holy warriors who kidnapped and murdered the three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank in June.

At 1 am Tuesday, a special police force encircled a house in one of Hebron's northern neighborhoods. It was a two-story building. The top floor was street-high and the bottom floor was under the road at the slope of the hill.

The building, which consisted of stores, is located not far from the Al-Ahli Hospital, about a kilometer south of Road 35, where most of the traffic flows from the Kiryat Gat area to Mount Hebron.

The attack most likely came in retaliation to the army's clampdown on Death Eaters on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal.

UAE confirms air strikes against ISIS in Syria
The UAE Air Force launched its first strikes against ISIS targets on Monday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday.

"The operation was conducted in coordination with other forces participating in the international effort against the ISIS," the ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Jordan also confirmed they sent planes to attack terrorist sites.

"Both A group of fighter jets from the Royal Bahrain Air Force (RBAF) carried out earlier this morning, along with the air forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council, allied and friendly countries, air strikes against a number of selected targets ... and destroyed them," the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) General Headquarters said in a statement carried by the state news agency BNA.

Jordan said both its warplanes also joined the US-led strikes against the terrorist group in Syria and Iraq.

"We took part in the strikes which are part of our efforts to defeat terrorism in its strongholds," said government spokesman Mohammed Al Momani.

Jordan’s military said its planes had destroyed an unspecified number of targets close to its borders with Syria and Iraq linked to ‘terrorist groups’ who have “committed attacks of sabotage” on its soil. It said all the planes had returned to base safely afterwards.
