Female MP gunned down in Mogadishu amid Ramadan rampage
MOGADISHU, Somalia -- Female Member of Parliament and popular artist Saado Ali Warsame has been killed in drive-by shooting in Mogadishu on Wednesday amidst growing security concerns, Garowe Online reports.

Late Warsame instantly died after unidentified assailants in vehicle sprayed her car with bullets along paved road in Mogadishu's Hodon district according to witnesses. Her driver was also gunned down and the attackers immediately escaped from the scene of the attack.
As usual, the hard boyz get away...
As has been the case, Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group claimed credit for the attack, saying the assassination is part of their killing campaign against Somali lawmakers.

Late Warsame joined the 275-seat-chamber of parliament in 2012 and had since been representing Somalia's stable Puntland. She made spectacular albums as her contribution to the history of Somali music is regarded as significant.

The killing of renowned female Member of Parliament marks the second murder that leaves national assembly member dead within three weeks.

Four terror suspects charged in Nairobi court
Four terror suspects arrested on Saturday for allegedly possessing bomb-making material in the Majengo section of Nairobi have been charged and denied bail.

A Ugandan national, Mohamed Yusuf Kuloba, who is alleged to be a member of Al-Shabaab, was among the suspects found with 62 sachets of explosive material and 10 kilogrammes of bhang. Mr Kuloba, Jibril Kaima Masudi, Mwanaidi Wanjiku Mwema and Julius Kariuki Maina denied the charge that on July 19 they were found in possession of the offensive material.

The prosecution said investigations were incomplete and that police required seven more days to complete the probe.

Mr Kuloba was further charged with being in Kenya illegally. The charge stated that, contrary to the Immigration Act, on July 19, being a Ugandan, he was found without a valid permit allowing him to be in the country.

The four denied being in possession of bhang worth Sh100,000. They return to court on July 30 for a renewal of their bond application.

Eight killed and 19 injured as bombs and rockets fall across Benghazi
[Libya Herald] Eight people have been killed and 19 injured, six of them critically, in missile and kabooms in Benghazi yesterday.

The fighting continued into the night with forces from Brega and Ajdabiya loyal to Ibrahrim Jadhran and the Al-Ahdaf Al-Hayawiya ("™"™""™ "™"™™™"©) from both Tobruk and Beida joining the festivities on the side of Operation Dignity, head of Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
Investigations Unit Fadel Al-Hassi told the Libya Herald.

Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) asked all medical personnel to report for duty at the hospital as staff struggle to deal with the casualties. Meanwhile residents evacuated their homes in the city's Tabalino district as missiles fell on the nearby February 17 Brigade camp. The brigade is allied to Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
.

Hassi claimed that 17 February forces had begun firing grad missiles across the city, concentrating their fire on the Saiqa Special forces base in Buatni. Rockets have also been reported landing in the Laithi, Fuwayhat, Garyounis and Tabalino districts.

The majority of the fighting on the ground seems to be focused in Buatni where many of the roads have been blocked with piles of sand after festivities between Saiqa and Ansar two days ago. Eye witnesses there reported tanks being deployed as Ansar made another assault.

Air Force Brigadier-General Saqr Adam Geroushi, the commander of Operation Dignity's air forces said raids had been carried out over several areas since Maghreb prayers last night but would not specify which targets had been attacked.

The latest fighting in Benghazi is seen as a response by bully boyz to calls yesterday from Saiqa Special Forces Commander, Wanis Bukhamada, who demanded that reinforcements be sent to Benghazi to help crush Ansar after its attack on the 318 Brigade's headquarters two days ago.

Bombing kills woman at Nigeria bus station
[Iran Press TV] A kaboom at a crowded bus station has killed at least one woman and injured several other people in the Nigerian city of Kano.

"It was an IED (improvised bomb). The explosive was concealed in a water dispenser and brought into the motor park by unknown people," Kano's Police Commissioner Adelere Shinaba told news hounds at the scene of the bombing on Thursday.

"A woman was killed and eight other people were maimed and have been taken to hospital…. Our forensic experts are combing the scene for clues. We have already commenced (an) investigation," he added.

In a separate attack, Gunmen raided a village in northeastern Nigeria and killed 12 people, including a traditional leader.

On Wednesday, more than 80 people were killed in two bombings in the city of Kaduna. No group has yet grabbed credit for the violence, but it came in light of growing militancy in Nigeria by the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...

Canadian 'poised to become terror tourist' given 10-year sentence
[THEGLOBEANDMAIL] An Ontario judge has sentenced a man "poised to become a terror tourist" to 10 years in prison — the maximum penalty for the charges he faced.

Mohammed Hersi, a Toronto man convicted of trying to travel overseas to join a terrorist group, was sentenced Thursday morning in Brampton by Justice Deena Baltman.

Mr. Hersi never committed or plotted a specific act of violence. Rather, he was tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in 2011 at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, where he was waiting to get on a flight to London with a connecting flight to Cairo.

He faced two terrorism charges after the RCMP alleged he was on his way to join al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
, a group of Islamist holy warriors based in Somalia.

Thursday's sentence stated that Mr. Hersi, now 28, should serve two consecutive five-year sentences. He would not be eligible for parole until halfway through the 10-year sentence.

In reading her sentencing decision, Justice Baltman said Mr. Hersi was "poised to become a terror tourist" and that she saw "no evidence of any rehabilitative potential on Mr. Hersi's part."

She declared that it was important to "send a clear message that such behaviour will result in lengthy prison sentences" and cited cases in both Canada and the U.S. where terrorism-related convictions resulted in severe punishments.

Justice Baltman said many letters of support written by Mr. Hersi's friends and family seemed to reject the outcome of his trial and that she could "only conclude that there is another side to him that his supporters have never seen or cannot accept."

She denounced Al-Shabaab as a "fanatical" terrorist group and concluded that Mr. Hersi "intended to participate in its violent jihadist activities," quoting several incriminating comments Mr. Hersi made in conversation with an undercover officer.

Prior to his arrest, police monitored Mr. Hersi, a university graduate who was working as a security guard in Toronto, for six months.

The undercover officer assigned to befriend him had posed as a consultant who was surveying the opinions of security guards.

Roadside vendor, barber killed in 'sectarian' attacks
[DAWN] KARACHI: A roadside vendor and a barber were rubbed out in the Supermarket and Sharifabad areas of Liaquatabad in suspected sectarian attacks on Thursday, officials said.

Syed Ali Raza, 27, was selling biryani at a roadside in Liaquatabad-2 when armed motorcyclists targeted him, Supermarket SHO Rizwan Patel said. As the suspects were fleeing, they were challenged by a patrolling police mobile near Jhand Chowk in Liaquatabad. During the exchange of fire between the police and suspects, five-year-old Mohsin Ali was maimed and the suspects escaped. The maimed were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where doctors pronounced Raza as dead. Mohsin suffered a bullet wound in the ear and his condition was out of danger, the officer added.

It was an act of sectarian killing, said SHO Patel.

A few minutes later also in Liaquatabad, a barber was bumped off in another suspected sectarian attack.

Sharifabad police said Tariq Khan, 26, was busy in his work with three or four customers in his shop in the F.C. Area in Gol Market near Hussaini Imambargah
...since Pakistain is very religiously correct™, Shia Moslems can't call their houses of worship 'mosques,' which are reserved for Sunnis. It's not clear if imambargahs are used for explosives storage like mosques are...
when gunnies on a cycle of violence appeared there and targeted him. He was taken to the ASH, where he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!

Police said the victim originally hailed from Punjab and they were not sure if the incident was prompted by sectarianism.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
a spokesperson for the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Moslemeen said Tariq was Shia and it was a sectarian killing.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Cynthia backed into the galley, the barbecue fork held in front of her. Jack! she called. Where the hell are you?...
another vendor, Zakir Ali, 30, was shot at and maimed critically at Daakkhana, Liaquatabad, by armed motorcyclists. The police said he was selling gol gappay when targeted. He was admitted in the ASH for treatment.

Qaeda trainer, not Adnan, captured
[DAWN] Security officials said on Thursday they had placed in durance vile
You have the right to remain silent...
a top murderous Moslem near the Afghan border but not a Pak Taliban leader who colleagues had identified last week as a man who once tried to blow up former president Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...

The officials said on July 15 the military had captured Adnan Rashid, who was accused of trying to kill Gen Musharraf in a 2003 kaboom and who later beat feet from jail.

Some officials hailed the arrest, which followed a shootout, as the first major catch since the army launched an offensive against turbans in North Wazoo along the Afghan border last month.

The government and army did not officially confirm the arrest at the time.

Later, various other security officials said it was not Rashid who had been captured but an important Al Qaeda bomb-maker and trainer.

"A high-value target has indeed been arrested but it is not Adnan Rashid," one of the officials said. "There was a mix-up." The official, who declined to be identified as he is not authorised to speak to the media, declined to identify the trainer or give details about him except to say he had extensive experience in training jacket wallahs and making bombs.

Two other officials also said Rashid had not been arrested. Rashid is believed to be in his mid-30s and a former Pak Air Force officer who tried to become a suicide bomber before he was placed in durance vile
You have the right to remain silent...
for the attempt to blow up Mr Musharraf.

He beat feet from jail in 2012 along with nearly 400 other murderous Moslems.

Several Pak Taliban leaders also said Rashid had not been captured.

"The news that Adnan Rashid was arrested is completely baseless," a Taliban leader who identified himself by his first name, Sabir, told Rooters by telephone. "He is free and safe and protected by his 12 suicide-bomber bodyguards who never leave his side. His family is with him."

Key Taliban commander among five killed in Orakzai blast
[DAWN] A key commander of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) was among five holy warriors killed Thursday night in a blast at a compound in lower Orakzai Agency

Official sources said the kaboom took place inside a house in Out Mela area of Orakzai agency, destroying the building and killing the five suspected holy warriors inside.

Sources said that a key Lion of Islam commander Amir Salam was among the dead.

Orakzai agency was known to be a stronghold of Talibs and a key abode of former TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud before he was killed in a US drone strike in North Wazoo.

Iraq
Iraq prison convoy ambushed north of Baghdad
Gunmen attacked a prisoner convoy north of Baghdad on Thursday, setting off a gunbattle with troops in which scores of prisoners and eight soldiers were killed, brutally underscoring Iraq’s instability as lawmakers convened to elect a new president.

The dawn attack began with militants firing mortar rounds on Iraqi army bases in the town of Taji, where suspects were being held on terrorism charges, prompting authorities to evacuate the facilities, fearing a jailbreak, officials said.

As the convoy travelled through a remote area nearby, roadside bombs went off and militants opened fire. The ensuing battle left 52 prisoners and eight soldiers dead, with another eight soldiers and seven prisoners wounded, they said. It was not immediately clear if the prisoners were killed by soldiers or militants, or if the Islamic State group was involved.

The town of Taji is located some 20 kilometres north of the capital.

Islamic State militants have staged several jailbreaks, including a complex, military-style assault on two Baghdad-area prisons in July 2013 that freed more than 500 inmates.

Apparently fearing a repeat of the incident, Shia militiamen killed nearly four dozen Sunni detainees last month in the town of Baqouba northwest of Baghdad when the facility where they were being held came under attack, according to a report by Amnesty International. The report documented a “pattern of extrajudicial executions” of mainly Sunni detainees by forces loyal to the Shia-led government, both in Baqouba and in the north, basing its conclusions on interviews with survivors and relatives of those killed.

ISIL militants demolish Prophet Yunus shrine
[Iran Press TV] ISIL Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
bully boyz have demolished the holy shrine of Prophet Yunus in a gruesome act of terrorism in the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
.

The ISIL bully boyz "completely destroyed the shrine of Nabi Yunus after telling local families to stay away and closing the roads to a distance of 500 meters from the shrine," AFP quoted an official at the Sunni endowment, which manages Sunni religious affairs in Iraq, as saying on Thursday.

The shrine of Prophet Yunus is one of the most well-known shrines in Iraq's northern city. The prophet is known as Yunus in the holy Koran and as Jonah in the Bible.

The endowment official further noted that the Takfiri bully boyz have already destroyed or damaged 30 shrines, as well as 15 Shia religious sites and mosques in and around the Iraqi city.

He listed the shrines of Yahya Ibn al-Qassem, Aoun al-Din and Prophet Daniel as the most important Moslem shrines destroyed or damaged by the ISIL.

"But the worst destruction was of Nabi Yunus, which has been turned to dust," the official said.

"They first stopped people from praying in it, then fixed explosive charges around and inside it and then blew it up in front of a large gathering of people," AFP quoted a witness who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Takfiri bully boyz have demolished several holy shrines and mosques belonging to Shia and Sunni Moslems in the militancy-riddled regions of Nineveh Province.

The ISIL and its associated Lion of Islam groups are blamed for numerous sacrilegious acts. The terrorist groups have links with Saudi intelligence and are believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after the ISIL bully boyz took control of Mosul in a lightning advance on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the capital.

The Iraqi army, backed by tribal forces and volunteers, has been engaged in heavy fighting with the bully boyz on different fronts and has so far been able to push back bully boyz in several areas, including in Tikrit.

#5  Vader, until they beg and then keep hitting them for awhile longer.

We stopped the first Gulf war at the lovely 100 hours because Powell thought it was a nice round number. Turns out Saddam was boarding a plane ready to flee when we got wobbly. 101 hours would have changed the world.

Two of the longest running sores in the world (Palestine/Kashmir) are because the UN got involved and we had peace before the fight was over. That just encourages the loser to keep fighting.

Hezbollah was able to claim victory because they weren't finished and so now they are still causing problems, still threatening Israel and anyone else who doesn't agree with their particular brand of lunacy. So, that covers the bunnies. Killing them is okay.

Liveblogging The Battle For Gaza: Day 18
[IsraelTimes] Latest: 3 Palestinians killed in West Bank clashes in past few hours

Yair Ashkenazy, 36, of Rehovot, is IDF's 33rd death; police on high alert for al-Quds Day; senior Islamic Jihad commander killed; Hamas calls for intifada; ministers weigh Kerry truce plan; PA wants 'Day of Rage' after deaths of 2 Palestinians in riots

The Times of Israel is liveblogging events as they unfold through Friday, the 18th day of Operation Protective Edge. With the Gaza death toll said to pass 700, Israeli military sources said several hundred Hamas gunmen had been killed, and 150 surrendered. Fifteen people were reported killed in shelling at a UN school. The IDF death toll is 32. IDF-Hamas fighting in Gaza remains intensive, and rockets are still being fired into Israel, but foreign airlines are returning to Ben-Gurion airport after an FAA ban was lifted. Late Thursday saw major riots in the Jerusalem area.

Israel surprised by number, sophistication of Gaza tunnels
While rockets and mortar fly through the sky in Gaza and southern Israel, the focus of the Jewish state's military is underground, on the warren of tunnels they say allow Hamas operatives to move freely in and out of the Palestinian territory committing acts of terror.
Little here that we don't already know at the Burg, but it's good to see someone in the MSM pushing this.
Pictures released by the Israel Defense Forces show tunnels, some primitive and others sophisticated enough to include walls and ladders, running under the border from the Hamas-controlled district before they were intentionally destroyed. More than 60 access shafts leading to 28 tunnels have been uncovered since Israel's ground operation -- dubbed Operation Protective Edge -- began on July 8.

“An IDF force uncovered a terror access shaft in Gaza in which were weapons, maps and IDF uniforms, all intended for the execution of terror attacks against Israel,” said an IDF statement. “In addition, an IDF force attacked several militants emerging from a tunnel opening in the southern Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the ground operation more than 60 access shafts leading to some 28 tunnels have been uncovered.”

“We've been busy with the tunnels for a long time -- in the last year we have discovered four in our territory," Ya’alon said. "This can be dealt with diplomatically or militarily -- now it's being done militarily with a lot of success.”

IDF officials initially expected that most of the tunnels would be destroyed within days, but once on the ground learned there were more than intelligence sources knew. And on Tuesday, a U.S. intelligence source revealed that American satellite imagery had suggested that as many as 60 tunnels might have been built underneath Gaza.

The maze of tunnels and access shafts appears to weave its way throughout much of the Gaza Strip. Access points are reportedly found in homes, mosques, public buildings, and more. In the last week, two discoveries of missile caches have been found in UNRWA schools that most likely arrived via tunnel.

The tunnels vary in length, height and width, but some are well-constructed using concrete blocks. Some have electricity feeds and sewage channels, suggesting they are designed for terrorists to remain inside for long periods, possibly days at a time. The materials used to construct the tunnels appear most likely to have been diverted by Hamas from the building materials allowed into Gaza by Israel for civilian construction.
Not really 'diverted' -- the materials were ear-marked for tunnel construction all along. Even Fox succumbs to the new-speak of the rest of the MSM sometimes...

Sec Kerry presents complicated cease fire proposal
1. A one-week, temporary cease-fire, during with Israel Defense Forces troops will not leave the Gaza Strip entirely and will continue to locate and destroy Hamas tunnels.

2. During this cease-fire, Israel and Hamas will begin negotiations on a more permanent arrangement, with Egyptian mediation. The Palestinian Authority will participate in these talks.

3. The United States, the UN secretary-general and the European Union will provide guarantees to both sides that the negotiations will deal with the issues important to them – for Israel, disarming Gaza of its rockets and tunnels, and for Hamas, ending the blockade of Gaza and repairing the damage the Strip has suffered.

Hamas will probably reject this

In the absence of any changes per the above, IT STILL COMES DOWN TO THE PA HAVING TO RELY MAJORILY OR WHOLLY ON ISRAEL FOR THEIR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Two Palestinians Killed In West Bank Protest
Israeli security forces have shot dead two Palestinians during a massive protest in the West Bank, according to medical officials. The victims
...also known as 'rioters' ...
were among an estimated 10,000 people who clashed with soldiers and border police at a checkpoint in Qalandiya, between Jerusalem and Ramallah.

The protest came hours after 15 people were killed and more than 200 injured when a UN school in the city of Beit Hanoun was hit by an artillery shell.

At least 90 people were injured in the checkpoint clashes, with some reports that live fire was being used.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told the AFP news agency soldiers used "riot disposal means" to control the protest. She said: "There are thousands of rioters there. They are rolling burning tyres and throwing Molotov cocktails and fireworks at soldiers and border police.

"The soldiers are responding with riot disposal means."

Palestinians launch fresh barrage of rockets into Israel
[Iran Press TV] Paleostinian resistance fighters have launched a fresh barrage of rockets into Israel in retaliation for the aerial and ground bombardment of the besieged Gazoo Strip.

The military wing of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, the Qassam Brigades, fired rockets at different cities and areas including Tel Aviv, Nitzan, Nitzanim, Ashkelon, S'derot, Bir Am, Ganim, Sdot Negev and Netivot.

Media reports said on Thursday that the attacks triggered red sirens, causing panic among the residents there. At least two Israelis have been injured, one of them critically, after a rocket hit the southern city of Eshkol.

The developments come as Israel's US-funded Iron Dome missile system has once again proved vulnerable after failing to intercept retaliatory rockets fired by Paleostinians into the occupied territories. The failure of the highly-publicized missile system has sparked panic among Israelis.

This is while Israeli military sources said Paleostinian fighters also targeted the Hatzerim airbase.

Hamas also says Paleostinian resistance fighters have killed eight Israeli soldiers in the east of Tofah neighborhood, which would bring the total number of the Israeli military fatalities as declared by Hamas to nearly 70.

This comes as Israel's aerial and ground forces are still pressing ahead with their deadly aerial and ground offensives in the Gazoo Strip.

At least 16 Paleostinians were killed, among them seven children, in the Israeli shelling of a UN-run school in Beit Hanoun, where many Paleostinians were taking refuge. Hundreds were also injured in the attack.

At least 788 Paleostinians have been killed and over 5,050 others injured since the start of the Israeli offensive on July 8.

International organizations and rights groups estimate that civilians make up more than eighty percent of the corpse count across the besieged Paleostinian coastal enclave.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
IS Jihadists Launch Broad Assault on Syria Army
[An Nahar] The jihadist Islamic State group launched multiple attacks on government-held territory across northern and northeastern Syria on Thursday, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was the first time that IS, accused by rival rebel groups of focusing its formidable firepower more on them than on the Damascus regime, had launched such coordinated assaults on army positions.

The jihadists went on the offensive near the main northern city of Aleppo, in Hasakeh province in the northeast and in Raqa province around their Euphrates valley stronghold, the Observatory said.

IS has been buoyed by sweeping victories north and west of Baghdad last month that prompted it to declare a pan-Islamic state straddling Iraq and Syria.

In Hasakeh province, the jihadists killed 11 soldiers in an attack on an army base, the Observatory said.

They also launched a brazen assault on the ruling Baath party provincial headquarters in Hasakeh city, over which witnesses said they saw the IS flag flying.

The mainly Kurdish city has remained under government control, although much of the surrounding countryside is under the control of Kurdish militia who have also been battling the jihadists.

In Raqa province, which is mainly held by IS, the jihadists attacked two positions of the army's 17th Division, sparking fighting that left dozens of dead and maimed, the Observatory said.

In one of the attacks, two jacket wallahs, one a Saudi, blew up trucks packed with explosives.

IS posted photographs on its Twitter account of six decapitated corpses that it said were soldiers of the 17th Division.

East of Aleppo, the jihadists launched an assault on the Kuwayris airbase, sparking fierce fighting around the perimeter, the Observatory said.

The jihadists are seeking to expand the fiefdom they have carved out along the Euphrates Valley by taking the battle to neighboring government-held areas after routing rival rebels in Deir Ezzor province in the east earlier this year, it added.
