New IS video shows Ethiopian Christians being slaughtered in Libya
[Al Jazeera] A new video from the Islamic State purportedly shows the group killing captured Ethiopian Christians in Libya. The 29-minute video released online today shows two groups of dark-skinned captives. It says one group is held by an IS affiliate in eastern Libya and the other by an affiliate in the south.

A masked fighter makes a long statement before the video switches between footage of the captives in the south being gunned down and the captives in the east being beheaded on a beach. The footage shows one group of about 12 men being beheaded by armed men on a beach and another group of at least 16 being shot in the head in a desert area.

The video bore the official logo of the IS media arm Al-Furqan and resembled their previous videos. A text on the screen identifies the men as "followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church".

#1  Well there goes another chapter of the Quran.

Sura 5 talked about honoring the people of the book...and we have a serial beheading...

I think more and more that this is a vast collection of psychopaths all united under the veil of religion.

#3  Reuters:

"The video warns that Christians will not be safe unless they embrace Islam or pay protection money."

This is what we were warning the world the Islamists wanted back in 2002. Nobody listened. Now they want the Caliphate back and they've got it.

From the same story:

In the latest video, a man dressed in black clutching a pistol stood behind some of the victims.

"Muslim blood shed under the hands of your religions is not cheap," he says. "To the nation of the cross: We are now back again."

Two U.N. Drivers Killed as Convoy Attacked in Northern Mali
[AnNahar] Two drivers were rubbed out in an attack on a peacekeeping supply convoy in northern Mali, authorities said Saturday, the second deadly assault on the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
in three days.

The assailants stopped the convoy some 15 kilometres (nine miles) from the main city of Gao and "coldly killed two of the drivers" in the attack Friday, the U.N. Mission in Mali, known as MINUSMA, said in a statement.

A third person was maimed, said MINUSMA, adding that it "firmly condemns this latest attack targeting innocent civilians and will make every effort to catch those responsible and bring them to justice".

The killings come amid continued violence by jihadist groups that had previously taken control of northern Mali before being routed by a French-led international intervention that began in 2013.

The attack comes at a sensitive time as the United Nations is seeking to seal a peace deal for northern Mali and stem a wave of attacks that have targeted MINUSMA.

At least 35 peacekeepers have been killed since MINUSMA was deployed in July 2013 -- one of the highest tolls for a U.N. peace mission -- and more than 140 maimed.

Key Islamist group Shamiya Front dissolves itself
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Key rebel groups operating under Al-Shamiya Front in northern city of Aleppo have decided to dissolve their coalition as defections rise, well-informed sources told Zaman al-Wasl.

The 4-month-old alliance reached an end as number of Islamist factions defected and formed a new group called Thuwar al-Sham (The Levant Revolutionaries). But activists said other reasons may stand behind that like the emerging power of Fatah Army, lack of coordination and conflict of interest.

The front was formed on 24 December 2014 by Aleppo-based rebel factions after months of negotiations in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and northern Syria between the Islamic Front, Army of Mujahedeen, Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki, Fastaqim Kama Umirt and Authenticity and Development Front gangs.

On 20 February 2015 al-Shamiya Front successfully forced the Syrian regime forces to retreat from rural towns in Aleppo; during the festivities 300 soldiers and mercenaries were killed and 110 were captured.

Also, the Front played big role as a mediator between rebel groups as it did between the Nusra Front and dissolved-Hazzm movement last February.

Clashes continue in Benghazi; many wounded in random shelling
[Libya Herald] Heavy festivities continued overnight in central Benghazi's Sabri district as well as in Hawari in the south and Leithi in the south east of the city.
"Do you have fire missions for us, sir?"
Random mortars also continue to fall in residential areas.
"Shoot over that way!"
Yesterday, a missile hit protestors in Kish Square, killing at least one man, named Ali Khalifa Al-Soei and wounding several others. Another local resident, 15-year-old Anwar Mohammed Elabbar Abdulokel, was killed in random shelling in the area. Altogether 19 people were maimed in shelling, again mainly random, in Kish and taken to either Jalaa Hospital or the Benghazi Medical Centre, itself again hit by a missile during the week.
"We hit something! We hit something!"
The attack in Kish Square has been blamed on the Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council (BRSC). It is unclear if that particular shelling was random or intentional.
"What'dja hit?"
Jalaa Hospital, where most of the injured were taken, is under even greater pressure following the mass resignation of some 18 foreign staff because of security fears coupled with failure of a promised pay rise to materialise.
"I dunno. You got my money yet?"
Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports that a Jihadi holy man from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, named as Abu A'amir al-Jazrawy, operating with the BRSC, was killed yesterday in Sabri.

(IS/ISIS) imposed a siege form all directions on the Iraqi city of Ramadi (120 km west of Baghdad) and started approaching the government complex in central Anbar.

A member of the Provincial Council of Anbar, Amal Fahdawi, said that the IS group besieged Ramadi and engaged in fierce battles with the Iraqi security forces and rustics, adding that the group seized control of the eastern part of Ramadi after the withdrawal of Iraqi forces.

"Military reinforcements and weapons that arrived in the province are not enough to thwart the IS terrorist attacks and defend the city," she added.

"The government should seriously deal with the battle for Anbar and work to support the security forces and rustics for the liberation of the province from the hands of the hardline group," Fahdawi said in a statement to local news hounds.

Speaking to ARA News in Anbar, tribe leader Abdul Razzaq al-Naimi said that the Islamic State launched Thursday a fierce attack on several military centers of Iraqi forces, on the main road linking districts of the Heet and al-Baghdadi in Anbar province.

"The gunnies used boom-mobiles during the attacks, which has forced the Iraqi forces to leave their headquarters. Afterwards, the IS took control of the Majid checkpoint and all the extended military locations between the village and Nueam and Majid checkpoint in Anbar province," al-Naimi said.

The recent IS-led attacks have forced tens of thousands of Iraqi families to flee Anbar province toward the capital Baghdad, after the escape and decline of the Iraqi security forces from these areas.

Police shoot teenage protester dead in Indian-held Kashmir

The kingdom "stands with its Yemeni brothers" and hopes for "the restoration of security and stability," the state Saudi Press Agency said, quoting an official statement.

Aid has only trickled into the country, largely because of restrictions imposed by the coalition on the country's air space and sea ports.

- Explosions, gunfire -
Residents said kabooms and gunfire shook Taez overnight during fighting between Hadi loyalists and the rebels.

Nineteen rebels, four soldiers of a mechanized army unit loyal to the president and four other pro-Hadi fighters were killed, a medical source told Agence La Belle France Presse.

Rival fighters also clashed Friday night in districts of Aden, the main southern city, residents and security sources said.

Pro-Hadi forces backed by air strikes held off rebels battling for the past week for control of Aden's refinery, 15 kilometers (nine miles) to the west of the city.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that his country's military should not be seen as a threat in the Middle East. The presence of Iranian navy ships "in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Aden is intended to ensure the security of neighboring countries and maritime traffic," he said in an Army Day ceremony.

On Friday, Iran submitted a four-point Yemen

"It is imperative for the international community to get more effectively involved in ending the senseless aerial attacks and establishing a ceasefire," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote in a letter to Ban.

- No early end -
In Riyadh, coalition front man Brigadier General Ahmed al-Assiri said late Friday that "from this afternoon we have started operations in Taez".

There had been 100 sorties in Yemen on Thursday, he said, indicating no early end to the operation.

Afghanistan
IS claims Responsibility for Deadly Afghan Bombing
[AnNahar] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group claimed to have carried out a deadly suicide kaboom in eastern Afghanistan Saturday that killed at least 33 people and injured more than 100, Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
said, in what, if verified, would be the first major attack claimed by the jihadist group in the country.

"Who grabbed credit for horrific attack in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
today? The Taliban did not claim responsibility for the attack, Daesh (IS) grabbed credit for the attack," President Ghani said on a visit to northeastern Badakhshan province.

A person purporting to be an IS front man said in a call to AFP that the group grabbed credit for the bombing outside a bank in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.

An online posting allegedly from the group made the same claim, which could not be immediately verified.

"Thirty-three dead bodies and more than 100 maimed were brought to the hospital," Dr. Najeebullah Kamawal, head of the provincial hospital, told AFP.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, a provincial government front man, confirmed the attack -- the deadliest since November.

"The kaboom happened outside the bank when babus government employees and civilians were collecting their monthly salaries," he told AFP.

The U.N. gave a higher toll, saying 35 people had been killed.

President Ghani strongly condemned the attack, which saw children among those killed, his office said in a statement.

"Carrying out terrorist attacks in cities and public places are the most cowardly acts of terror by bandidos murderous Moslems targeting innocent civilians," President Ghani said.

The scene of the attack showed the gruesome scale of the carnage with people lying in pools of blood and body parts scattered across the ground.

The bombing comes as Afghanistan braces for what is expected to be a bloody push by the Taliban at the start of the fighting season.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid denied responsibility.

The bully boyz have stepped up attacks on government and foreign targets since Washington backpedalled on plans to shrink the U.S. force in Afghanistan this year by nearly half.

The Taliban have seen defections to IS in recent months, with some murderous Moslems voicing their disaffection with their one-eyed supreme leader Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
, who has not been seen since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.

The Afghan government has also raised the ominous prospect of IS making inroads into the country, though the group that has captured swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq has never formally acknowledged having a presence in Afghanistan.

#1  who did we target? Islamic State

Why do we call them Daesh? The intelligence agencies don't want to anger regional "allies" like Saudi Arabia

Why should we ignore this? Because it is dishonest, the group's name is "Islamic state" and those regional "allies" are best dealt with by confronting the fact that we are at war with fascist Islamism and they'd better clean out their houses because we are really at war with them, too

Iraqi ground forces enter Beiji oil refinery
Baghdad -- Iraqi ground forces secured the perimeter around the country’s biggest oil refinery on Saturday and entered the vast complex amid heavy clashes with Daesh militants, said a senior Iraqi military official.

Abdel-Wahab Al Saadi, the top military commander in Iraq’s Salahuddin province, said ground forces entered the Beiji oil refinery on Saturday, days after a number of Daesh militants carried out a large-scale attack and briefly took over a small part of the complex.

“It is another victory achieved by Iraqi security forces that are growing confident in the war against the terrorists,” Al Saadi said.

The refinery has remained under government control, but the militants had been surrounding the entire complex preventing access by Iraqi forces.
It only seems like the refinery has been traded back and forth by the warring parties...
A day earlier, Iraqi soldiers, backed by US-led coalition airstrikes and Shia and Sunni militias dubbed the Popular Mobilisation Forces, gained control of the towns of Al Malha and Al Mazraah, located 3 kilometres south of the Beiji refinery.

Iraqi forces recaptured Tikrit, capital of Salahuddin, on April 1 and have been gradually pushing their offensive north to secure the rest of the province.

Militants from the Daesh group seized Ninevah province and much of Salahuddin and Anbar provinces last summer during their advance across northern and western Iraq.

#1  Dunno, I guess maybe both sides want to keep the site operational? No reason a war if schism should get in the way of making a defeat shekels. Meaning, srsly, could'nt an RPG or two take out a cracking tower?

Shaboobs raid Bossaso police compound
BOSSASO, Somalia -- Somalia’s Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group claimed credit for raid on police compound in the Gulf of Aden port city of Bossaso, Garowe Online reports.
Why on earth is it that police stations in Somalia and the Middle East can't be defended?
In a statement released online, the militant group said at least three of their fighters targeted Balade police station in New Bossaso neighborhood with rocket propelled grenades.

Meanwhile, Bari regional police commander Abdihakin Yusuf Hussein said on VOA Somali service that station commander sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Al Shabaab claims come two months after similar assault left a soldier wounded, and pick-up truck destroyed at Balade police compound.

Militants honed military-style ambushes and night raids in Puntland’s most populous city, Bossaso. The port city has been grappling with large influx of migrants fleeing from Yemen civil war.

Puntland MP killed in Mogadishu drive-by shooting
MOGADISHU --Unidentified assailants in car have killed Puntland lawmaker in drive-by shooting in volatile Mogadishu on Saturday, Garowe Online reports. Witnesses and officials say, Late Adan Haji Hussein (Adan Yare) died from close range gunshots, with attackers managing to flee from the scene right away.

The drive-by shooting occurred near Mogadishu’s newly-renovated hospital, Erdogan.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the pre-planned shooting but as has been the case Al Shabaab militants target government officials and foreigners in broad day light attacks.

Adan Yare marks the first high ranking Puntland officials to be killed. In mid-March, Puntland held state funeral for Somali ambassador to UN Human Rights Council late Adan Ismael Bari-Bari whom Al Shabaab infiltrators killed in Mogadishu’s Maka Al Mukarama hotel.
