#3 Contrarian view: this crap got normalized on Trump's watch and I don't remember him federalizing the National Guard to deal with Portland, Mpls, Seattle, etc.

President Trump offered, but his offers were scornfully rejected by various mayors and governors, as I recall.

#6 ^ yes. Refused, loudly, with insults and much posturing, by the incompetent left-wing governors of Oregon and Washington and the idiot left-wing mayors of Portland and Seattle.

By politicizing this issue during an election year, the Democrats caused innocent people to be killed. The Democrat mayors and governors have blood on their hands.

#7 Trump used federal law enforcement to defend federal buildings, and the reaction to it was if he'd buggered Posse Comitatus on the White House lawn. My only criticism of him was not allowing officers to respond with deadly force when the mob tried to blind them or threw explosives.

But, in the end, his approach was the more politic.

#8 Re #5, The president doesn't need the permission of the Governor to nationalize the Guard. As has been noted before, he probably listened to advisors who told him being "heavy-handed" would blow his chances of re-election. Look how well that turned out.
