[Regnum] Turkey's armed forces carried out an air operation in northern Syria against the Kurdistan Workers' Party, a paramilitary organization that Ankara considers terrorist. This was announced on Sunday, October 8, by the Turkish Ministry of Defense.“As a result of the raid, six PKK facilities were destroyed, mainly oil wells and oil storage facilities under the control of the terrorist organization ,” says a statement published on the official website of the defense department.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the operation, during which a significant number of militants were eliminated, was launched on October 8, at 22:00 local time (coinciding with Moscow time).
As Regnum reported, on October 5, CNN Türk reported that drones of the Turkish national intelligence organization conducted aerial reconnaissance in Syria and destroyed facilities and ammunition depots of the Kurdistan Workers' Party banned by Ankara.
Let us recall that on October 3, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ali Erlikaya, announced the start of a large-scale anti-terrorist operation codenamed “Heroes”. According to media reports, over the same day, more than 110 suspects of involvement in the PKK were detained in Turkey.
