The Somali government said in a statement that the operation took place in the Dhabaq-Libey area under the Aden Yabal district in the Middle Shabelle region.
The SNA boss General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, told the media that the miitants were killed as they were gathering to attack Aden Yabal district which fell to the army’s hands last week.
The army and local clan militia drove out al-Shabaab from important towns in the Middle Shabelle region as part of a larger offensive launched in August thsi year.
