Five dead and 18 injured after gunman opened fire inside gay club in Colorado Springs
2022-11-20
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Five people were shot dead and 18 others injured during a mass shooting inside an LGBTQ nightclub, known as Club Q, in Colorado Springs on Saturday night.
Update at 11:25 a.m. ET:
Colorado Springs police say Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, entered Club Q just before midnight and fired an unknown amount of bullets from his long rifle before he was stopped by at least two 'heroic' patrons who tackled him to the ground.

The gunman was located inside the club and is being treated at a local hospital.

The Colorado Springs man was apparently arrested previously for making a homemade bomb.

FBI agents are now assisting Colorado Springs police with the investigation.

Colorado Springs police received initial reports of an active shooting at the club around 11.57pm last night. The first officers arrived on the scene within three minutes of the call, and Anderson was detained at 12.02am.

Club Q describes itself online as an 'adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub hosting theme nights such as karaoke, drag shows & DJs.'

The club was scheduled to celebrate Transgender Day of Remembrance on Sunday 'with a variety of gender identities and performance styles,' following an all-ages musical drag brunch that morning.
After all that, the only question is whether this is a hate crime, spree crime on a convenient soft target, or a nutter.
The facts Heavy has collected suggest a nutter:
Authorities did not immediately release a photo of Aldrich. Heavy is working to verify pictures on a relative’s Facebook page. There were not any immediately apparent social media accounts for Aldrich.

Online records show Aldrich with an apartment complex address in Colorado Springs. Online records indicate he lives with a 44-year-old woman who works as a support engineer.

In 2021, a man named Anderson Lee Aldrich was accused of being involved in a bomb threat situation with weapons in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood of Colorado Springs, a press release says.

According to the June 18, 2021, press release from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the reporting party “said her son was threatening to cause harm to her with a homemade bomb, multiple weapons and ammunition. The reporting party was not in the home at the time when she made the call and was not sure where her son was.”

#12  Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, early reports said he was a person of interest last year in explosives, gun threats. Where have we heard this before?

#11  Similar to Pulse gay club shooting in 2016 Orlando?

#10  The common distinction is that Bundy was a serial killer, Starkweather was a spree killer and Speck was a mass killer.

#9  “ So should you use spree to refer to a series of crimes? That is up to you. It's not bad advice to say that some people may think that crime spree implies that crime is fun, so you should carefully weigh your words when writing about the sinister. But if you choose to leave spree out of your writing, you cannot make that decision on the grounds that spree has always referredrb only to harmless, innocent fun.”

#7  My favorite was finding a couple klan members plotting to make a hit on what was then a flagging presidential hopeful Barry. A plot so onerous Michelle spent the next 10 years of her life straightening her hair.

A GROQMER+ church huh. I'm going to take a page and just assign motive to a disenchanted transitioner.

#6  Colorado is where the dancing Feeb's pistol fell out and discharged into someone else on the dance floor. Colorado is where the unlicensed "security escort" shot and killed a guy and was nolle prossed.

Colorado is where Columbine is located...

That too unfortunately. The agents and lab people we worked with were very professional and good at their jobs. When I worked with Cybersecurity at the bank, they were great for helping with investigating interstate money fraud/laundering and hacked/used computers.

I do remember one time where once the "suits" got involved, like the ones from the up high on the hill center office and most likely some from DC, things went pear shaped with the investigation really fast and we never heard anything about it again other than another department was investigating it.

I've said it before. Anyone G-13 and up in the FBI gets fired. Only way to clean it up.

#3  I am curious why the FBI is involved so early.
Is that unusual?

I don't know about other states, but this is pretty regular in Colorado. We have several small FBI field offices and a technology center that services many of the nearby states too in electronic forensics. A mass shooting will bring in FBI assists so they can run most of the forensics on them in a quick turn around.

Is that unusual? Perhaps one of their 'guys' was one of the vics...

#1  NYP: One suspect was in custody and being treated at a local hospital as of early Sunday, according to CSPD Lieutenant Pamela Castro. The suspect’s identity has yet to be disclosed.

If the "suspect" isn't white/straight/alt-right, this will be memory-holed
