Turkish-backed faction arrests civilians in Afrin
2022-03-07

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions arrested yesterday a civilian of Afrin countryside, north of Aleppo, northern Syria.

A group of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham faction arrested Muhammad Sido, from Rajo district, on the pretext of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration, a local source told North Press.

He added that Sido was arrested in the village of Kafr Mazzeh in Sharran district, while he was on his way to fulfill some of his needs.

The source indicated that Sido was transferred to the headquarters of the security faction in the district, while his fate is still unknown.

Since the Turkish incursion into Syria, the killing and wounding of 8,590 people have been documented, while the number of detainees has reached 8,230, about 5,530 of whom have been released, while the fate of the rest is still unknown.

The city of Afrin and its villages, north of Aleppo, have been controlled by Turkish forces and the affiliated factions since March 2018.

Since then, the region has been witnessing ongoing security chaos accompanied by infighting among militants of the Turkish-backed factions, arrests, and kidnappings amid the factions’ disability to settle the security and spread safety.
