Three Taliban insurgents killed in Afghan clashes |

Afghan police have said a Taliban was killed and another was wounded in a gun battle with police force in the southern city of Kandahar. The clash erupted when two armed Taliban insurgents attacked a police foot patrol in the city, wounding one policeman, local police officer Mohammad Nasib said. The wounded Taliban was taken into custody, he said. In another incident a policeman was killed and three others were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded during a police patrol in eastern Paktika province on Wednesday, provincial governor Mohammad Akram Khapelwak said. Police launched a manhunt after the incident in Wazakhwa district of Paktika and clashed with a group of Taliban, killing two militants, the governor said. "Police surrounded the group, two Taliban fighters were killed and two others were wounded as a result of clashes," he said. |
