| Talibunnies Killed in Helmand |

| TALIBAN SENIOR LEADER TARGETED IN ASSAULT BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Several Taliban fighters were killed during an assault by Afghan National Army and Coalition forces early Monday morning near the town of Gershk in the Nahr Surkh District of Helmand Province. A group of Taliban fighters initiated hostilities by firing a rocket propelled grenade at Afghan and Coalition forces. Forces then engaged and killed the Taliban fighters; a battle damage assessment had not yet determined the exact number of terrorists killed. I wonder if they got anybody significant. The assault was conducted based on substantial information provided about a Taliban senior leader operating in the neighboring province of Kandahar. The targeted individual has ties to Mullah Mohammad Osmani and Mullah Mohammad Omar. During the assault, an Afghan National Army vehicle overturned in a ravine. One ANA soldier received a non-life threatening injury and was taken to a Coalition hospital for further treatment, and the vehicle was destroyed on site. | #11 Right Seafarious. Being wounded in that way promotes mutual mourning for one another and a strange bolstering of a sense of male community-- a "badge" of "honor." This is what happens as an end result when women are not respected and dealt with honestly as equals--the guys get really whacked out. |

Briefly, it's a Muslim title, meaning lord, applied to a scholar or religious leader, especially in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. The term is not used in Arabic-speaking areas, where its nearest equivalent is shaykh (implying formal Islamic training)... |

| #7 I wouldn't presume to judge, anymouse. Some of those mail order courses are hard. And Abraham Lincoln taught himself lawyering out of books, well enough to pass the bar. It seems to me he had some success in life thereafter, but I'm a little hazy on the details. |

| #3 Mullah is some sort of Sunni religious title, Ebbolump Glomotle9608. I'm not at all certain, but I think it means he graduated from a madrassah and is qualified to head a mosque. |
